#Michael Horley Re-reading my earlier post I need to warn you that the function of the Kraus and Naimer switch is achieved by wiring contacts in series and parallel, as well as having a cam internally that moves the individual contacts. They can be a bit of a mind bender to understand. But knowing that the original scheme had: two contacts (i.e. four terminals) closed in forward, otherwise open two contacts (again, this will be four terminals) closed in reverse, otherwise open one circuit closed in off, otherwise open one circuit closed in forward or reverse and open in off gives you a fighting chance. I'm imagining that the last two functions may be contacts wired in series or parallel to give the overall function. HTH Simon Edited By Simon Williams 3 on 19/08/2023 00:25:24 Many thanks Simon for your comprehensive answers. I think the PO has indeed removed all the other wires. It looks a bugger to remove the switch to check but I can't see any cut wires in the conduit. I have sussed the high/low side of it by programming the VFD to 50 and 100hz and that all works, just need to wire it into the switch when I get the fwd/rev sorted properly. I have seen a video where someone has replaced the original F/R switch with a simple rotary switch operated by the original lever with a bit of fabrication. I may go down that route in the end. |

Sounds as if someone has removed the control shaft to save furtling in the innards to make the Newton Tesla package compatible with the original switched control scheme. I re-wired the control switch so it became the input controls to the VSD. Maybe this boat has sailed? I just came across this post. I am trying to do the exact same thing with my Mk1 1600. The previous owner fitted a single speed motor and VFD but the fwd/rev lever only turns the motor on in both positions with the old speed range switch used to reverse the motor. I want to use the lever as it should be and the speed range switch to change betwwen50 and 100 hz. Problem is I only have 3 wires coming from the reversing switch, grey, orange and blue and I can't get anything but blue and orange connecting in both positions. How did you do yours? |

Busy day today! The usual Spitfires flying over, but an hour ago the Catalina rumbled past the bungalow at about a 1000ft. Shortly afterwards, as i was about to start cutting the front grass, the Lancaster flew over at 600ft, heading for Duxford. Andrew My Sister sent me a message earlier to look out for the Catalina. She and her partner are heavily involved in it's upkeep. I am not far from lakenheath and the planes were buzzing about at the time so I didn't expect to see it. |

I recently used these people,123bearing.com for seals for a pallet truck. I first took it apart and measured the seals then matched them on their website. they are in France but postage was reasonable and the website easy to use. |
Thread: Coolant pump and VFD |

Just to close this off, I used a 2mfd capacitor across two of the phases and 240v across one of those and the other phase. The pump works perfectly with a good strong flow.
Thanks everyone. |

Thanks Andrew. I had already ordered the 2mfd capacitor after delving through the net looking for Steinmetz so your previous post confirmed I was in the right ball park! I have just checked and it is a motor run type so hopefully it will work. |

Thanks for all your comments, I have ordered a 2mfd capacitor so I will try that first. |

Good evening all. Can someone give me some advice on wiring up the coolant pump on my recently acquired Bantam Mk1 please? I have a 3 phase motor running off a VFD but the coolant pump isn't connected, can I connect it up to the same terminals as the main motor? If so can I also wire in an on off switch? Thanks in advance. |

I have just bought a Bantam mk1 1600 with lots of accessories to replace my S7. It's under a sheet while I sort out my garage but I keep looking at the S7 thinking I don't want to let it go. My neighbour across the road who helped me get it out of the van said he wants it. Maybe a good solution as I can always go over and use it for imperial threads. The Bantam is metric so imperial threads not so easy.

I have repaired two 4-jaw chucks where people have removed them by hitting the chuck key and snapping a piece off the square socket. |

I think it is a square bar with a on off reverse lever that slides along with the saddle. |

Someone on the radio earlier said these events put £16 million plus into the N.Ireland economy. If that is true then spending taxpayers money on insurance would be money well spent. |

People who are convinced that global warming is a scam should Google Dunning-Kruger effect. I wouldn't say it's a scam, it is the propaganda that we are causing it that I am skepical about. What is undoubtedly true is that many individuals and organisations are making millions from it all. |

About 3 years ago after a few days of extra hot weather we decided to look at Air con for our living room. We live in Norfolk. We missed the boat that year but had it installed the next year. I would say that we have used it for no more than 10 days a year but it's been lovely these last few days! Yesterday it was 38c outside and 25c inside. It also heats as well if needed. |

I doubt much of it because anyone who disagrees gets excommunicated from the money tree If you are in the scientific community and you want those nice easy free handouts then you have to sing from the government global warming policy hymn sheet Anyone who expresses any doubts gets the heave-ho So it's not real science IMO, it's government funded scientific propaganda I couldn't agree more. Aided and abbetted by the MSM who can't get enough of "Climate Change" Most of us laugh at it all when Winter comes and it is freezing cold! |

Is this type of parting tool satisfactory? There seems to be nothing much (except the taper) to keep the carbide tip in place, and nothing to stop the tip being driven deeper into the tapered recess. Thanks - Rowan I use that one on my S7 and it works perfectly in the front or rear tool post. |

Dropped a family friend off at Heathrow T2 last weekend - and they now charge you a fiver for the privelege. ...Much the same in many hospital car parks, so take money if anyone is given a lift to A&E. To add insult to injury, you pay at a machine that puts stressed drivers through a difficult intellgence test! Don't fail to read the instructions carefully: if paying by card and the receipt contains the word 'VOID', you have to start again! Recently the government withdrew an attempt to rein in car park overcharging after being threatened by the industry with a shower of legal challenges. A full-blown Act of Parliament is needed, which probably means it won't happen Dave It's 7 quid at Stanstead! |
