Thread: 420 stainless sheet |
15/06/2022 17:48:00 |
Thanks Bill, I've already contacted the above businesses, should have been more specific in my opening message. Issue is they're quite dear for small quantities, even taking into account the postage from France. |

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately the two grades differ quite a bit. |

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of 420 stainless sheet? I can buy from www.eurotechni.com but would prefer to buy from someone more local. Thanks Edited By Matt N on 09/06/2022 16:10:18 |
Thread: Diamond Fret Saw |

Excellent, thanks for that! Mine is maybe a bit later as has covers, but much the same. |

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone got a complete original Diamond Heavy Duty Fret Saw which they could take a photo of the top arm pivot for me, or at least describe the components? I've just bought one second hand, the pivot bolt was obviously replaced at some point and the top arm has a bit of side to side movement. Thanks Edited By Matt N on 03/06/2022 11:46:12 |

I switch between the weekly updated 0.20 "beta" and the stable 0.19 versions on Manjaro Linux and rarely have crashes on either. |
Thread: Laser or water-jet cutter who hold stock of spring or tool steels |
08/02/2022 20:27:23 |
Thanks for the business suggestions. Gauge plate would certainly do it, I'll compare prices. Cheers |

HI all, I'm trying to find a laser or water-jet cutting service that holds stock of (2mm) spring and also (5 or 6mm) tool steels, or at least something higher yield than s355 which is the limit of what most seem to stock. Ideally, I don't want to have to buy a sheet of material to free issue. Thanks in advance, Matt |
Thread: Computer help required |

I know its not the most apt advice, but I'd echo above. If you've got no specific reason to use Windows, i.e. program compatibility, and you just use your PC for web browsing/emails/spreadsheets/etc I couldn't recommend Linux Mint more highly. Your computer will be much more responsive for it, and the experience is very similar to Windows. |
Thread: Non-warping Wood for Base? |
06/02/2022 10:00:00 |
Hi, Perhaps Accoya would suit, it's a pressure pickled softwood and dimensionally very stable because of the acetylation process. It also comes in an MDF form called Tricoya, although maybe less appropriate. |

Hi all, Raising an old thread again but for finding the CoG, I've found the CentreofMass and FCinfo macros really useful. Although FCinfo is more finicky. Posted by SillyOldDuffer on 24/06/2019 15:26:07: Here's how to find out in FreeCAD by adding a local coordinate system. Select the whole cannon then click on the 'Create a new local coordinate system' button (under mouse pointer above). Then choose 'Inertial CS' as the attachment mode. In my example the Red X and Green Y lines can be seen marking the balance point. Try it on your cannon to see how well your trunnions are placed! Quite often if it looks right it is right.
