Thread: 16mm Indexable tool holders
10/08/2021 23:08:29

Thanks for the great info. JB tool holders look interesting especially the 100 deg ones.

And as for tips, CCMT or CCGT the way to go? I see that CNMG gets a lot of votes with TNMG also popular for finishing...

Evening, Im after any first hand recommendations for indexable tool holders like the Glanze variety in 16mm. Seems to be loads of choices but I don't want to 'buy cheap and buy twice'

Thanks in advance

Thread: Warco WM 18 vs GH 18 for CNC conversion
16/02/2021 13:18:47

Just placed WM 18B on back order with Warco

They do look like the same machine. Not too impressed with the conversion, no captive bearing on the x axis looking at it...

Plan to machine all the parts myself as that's part of the fun.

It seems to be very similar to the Precision Matthews PM-30MV

Very little info on the WM18B but definitely an option...

Warco WM 18 vs GH 18 for CNC conversion

Hello, after some opinions on which machine would be better for a CNC conversion. I would want to convert the GH 18 to belt drive, just wondering if the castings and column is better on the GH 18.

Thanks in advance.

Thread: Multifix toolholder Vendors

Wow, that was quick!

Mine didn’t get picked up until yesterday...

hopefully you’ll be pleased with them.

16/11/2020 08:02:45

Hi Pete,

Of course, no problem.

Yes they are not cheap, but I think compared to the other options out they're a great design.

14/11/2020 17:07:45

So I've ordered the following from Pewetools:

'A' set with 16mm x 75mm holders

Parting holder

MT2 sleeve, insert for boring bar tool holder

And on back order:

Boring bar steel holder

I'll post some feedback when I get them.

Peter is good to deal with and very passionate about his products

12/11/2020 14:12:24

Please do Henry, I've been in email correspondence with Peter this morning.

I have to say I’m leaning towards the Pewe size ‘A’ set with a few extra holders.

if I was planing to buy 10 x holders I’d probably go the create route but I want to add as I go along and having Pewe in Germany is better for this I feel.

Reading the Pewetools blurb, they claim that the teeth of the tool holders and posts are cut by wire-EDM to finished dimension as opposed to grinding like the others...

Correction to my last post the Ab size is not available from Pewe but from Paulimot

Good size guide here:

Hi Pete, yes it is a bit confusing.

The sizes are generally Aa A E B C D1 D2 plus Pewetools do an Aaa Ab & AS

there is an old multifix catalog Here:

Also the tool holders come in different lengths eg for the A size you can get 75,80&90mm.

Generally you need 3 things to work out the best size:

1) the distance between the surface of the top compound slide and the centre line of the Chuck

2) the width of the the top compound slide

3) the output of the motor

Also depending on what size tooling you have, 12,16,20mm etc for the size of the holders

An AD2090 tool holder for instance would generally be a 20m holder, 90mm in length
