Thread: Number drills? |

If Bosun cares to visit me (Herts), he can use my gauge to measure his drills MC
Thank you Dr, While I only live in Essex (not far away), I'd like to have something on hand for future use if need be. |

Thanks All, I have a fairly large box of inherited drill bits and thought drill gauges would be more beneficial of workshop time than callipers and charts. |

Cheers Andrew, So it looks like Proops don't sell a number drill gauge, despite what it says on Amazon. The Proops website isn't clear. I'll get in touch with them. |

Thanks GC, I did look on the Proops site, but it didn't appear to offer a number drill gauge. Fractional and letter, but I'm not sure what "nf & nc decimal" equivalents are. |

Hi All, does anyone know where I can buy a "number drill" gauge? One of those plates with all the holes in. I think I'm correct in saying that number drill sizes are not the same as wire gauge sizes. |

Hello Colin, Have a look at "Ades Workshop" on YouTube. He's got a WM180 and has made some great modifications to improve it. Good luck with future projects. |

I think I'd try another watch repairer/jeweller. |
Thread: QCTP for WM290V |
14/09/2022 10:37:59 |
Warco sell a "Dickson" style QCTP, but unfortunately they don't seem to be made to the same tolerances as genuine Dickson QCTP's. Despite being sold as "fantastic quality QCTP's". I've have several tool holders that don't clamp-up properly. I suspect the build-up of tolerances between the tool post, the top hat clamp, the cam and the tool holder are to blame. Strategically placed shims in the tool holder fixes the problem. I guess, as always, you get what you pay for. |
Thread: Fridge/Freezer Compressor |
08/09/2022 17:42:44 |
Hi D.A.G What are you going to do with this compressor? Fit it to a fridge or freezer? If not, bear in mind, they're designed for compressing refrigerant gas, and has already been said, will need some lubrication. |

Yes, certainly check the tailstock off-set clamping screws. The screws on my Warco WM250 were found loose. Presumably from new. |

Hi All, nearly fell of my stool earlier this year when I got the renewal from LV for my 2018 Ford Ranger XLT. £14 cheaper, now what's that all about? Not complaining as you might have guessed. Can't remember the actual premium, but it was less than £300.00. |

My Warco WM16B has a No.3 MT, and while the manual says to tap the drawbar, it doesn't work. A call to Warco revealed my WM16B to have a threaded nut that pushes the taper free. Takes a bit longer to release the taper, but works OK. Just don't over tighten the drawbar. |
Thread: EVRI/Hermes text scam |

Perhaps we should have a sweepstake as to when they'll change the name again. |

EVRI! Honestly, a name change, is that supposed to make things better? |
Thread: Cast finish. |
14/08/2022 10:53:28 |
Thanks all, Plenty to be experimenting with. The surfaces will eventually be painted, so there is some tolerance, but I'm mindful not try and disguise the fettling by the over zealous application of paint. |
13/08/2022 17:15:18 |
Good afternoon, I'm building a small Traction Engine that uses several aluminium castings. Clearly they needed to be fettled, which I've done. Is there a way to restore the cast surface finish where the fettling has taken place. I don't have, or even access to a blast cabinet. Thanks. |

Watched quite a few of the series, but they all started to get a bit samey. One disused tunnel looks pretty much like any other, and how Tim could salivate over station signs is beyond me. |

Thread: Cutting copper? |
14/07/2022 11:56:38 |
Good morning (just), I want to cut a slice from a 2" dia copper bar on my horizontal bandsaw with a 14tpi blade. What coolant (if any)? Blade speed? Any issues? Thank you. |
