Hi Steve,

Not sure about the milkshake machines, but there's this video about their icecream machines on youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrDEtSlqJC4

If you had a low opinion of them before......

Regards,

Alan

That explains everything. Being told for over a year the machine is off. Thanks for the link.

Well as the thread starter I only thought it fair to put my hand up to all the guys who have never eaten fast food or frequented them.

As a teenager we used to visit the Wimpey burger joint regularly.

Also if anyone remembers the Golden egg group.

Burger king.

KFC.

Pizza hut.

Chinese takeaway.

Indian takeaway.

Valentino's.

Nando's the list goes on. I actually cook a lot at home using fresh ingredients but still go out to these type of places a bit. If i did not my Grandkids would disown me i guess. Only this evening we had 2 senior Fish & chip meals. I thought i was quite normal. But after reading some of the replies here i am not too sure now.

Can I ask what is so cheeky about McDonald's? There doesn't appear to be anything that isn't necessary for a webpage to function and most websites will already have gathered this information before they serve you with a page anyway, they just aren't as up-front about it.

If you read the privacy policy of the model-engineer.co.uk website (link here or at the bottom of the page) you will see almost exactly the same thing, the biggest difference being that McDonalds ask you to agree, probably because the data is analysed in the US, whilst Morton's don't ask (although I'm pretty sure that registering as a forum user requires agreement to the conditions).

The server for every webpage you go to requires address information, otherwise it will not know where to send the information. Similarly, without your computer sending browser and hardware information, the server would be unable to decide whether to deliver a desktop or mobile version of the site, or even whether the browser could display a usable copy of the page.

Because there will be many clients connected to the server at the same time, cookies are required for the server to keep all responses from a single client linked together. For example if the page first asked for which restaurant you visited and then sent you further questions about the service in the restaurant, without a session cookie there would be no way for the server to link the answers to the particular restaurant.

You are obviously much younger than me or much more Tech savvy. I am neither of those & it said to me forget the free lunch & that is what i did. Now i sit here starving hungry , but satisfied that i did not let them pry into my P.C of which you say they all do. MMM.

Beans on toast tomorrow then.

Well I enjoy an occasional big Mac. Of course it has to be eaten with a suitable wine. I recommend a nice little Pinot Noir, like this 1991 Domaine Leroy Chambertin Grand Cru...

I think i'm too old to start saving for a glass of that.

I would have settled for a Choc milk shake if the darn machines were working.

Am I the only person here who's never had food, or what passes for food, at McDonalds?

Don't know what you are talking about.

Cardboard chips, semi dry bread cake, bouncy rubber burger. What's not to like.

There apple pies are nice though.

Oh & the continual beep beeps from the machinery. As said don't often go there. We had actually gone for a Carvery to the local newish pub. We were told the Carvery had finished & only main menu available (Mega expensive) this was at 6:15 in the evening ???. They close at 11:00pm. Anyway that's how we ended up at the Colton food places. KFC. Pizza hut or Mc. we will not be going there again for a while.

So not a happy meal then Stevedevil

HaHa very funny. angry. I would'nt care but i only go once a blue moon & the milk shake machines have not worked for over a year. Someone said they don't have any staff who will clean the intricate machine.

I went to McDonalds for a burger & on the receipt is said. Fill in the survey online & receive a free meal. So i went online & the 1st thing you had to click the checkbox on was this. It is only a picture I took of it so quite safe. They want every detail from your P.C & you give them permission too. This should not be allowed.

I know they all send cookies etc but this is the 1st time i have seen anything like this.

Guess i'm not getting a free burger.

Thread: "Digital Phase Converters" - Inverters for Multi-Motor Applications
09/10/2022 02:21:50

That is exactly what an inverter does. You set the up to full speed time at what you want. Example 5- 10 secs or whatever. seconds. So the inverter ramps up the power slowly which would annul the inrush if DOL. As long as the FLC is not more than the rating of the inverter. Hope this helps.

Steve. P.S You will probably now get lots of other advice. Contrary to mine.

From a retired industrial Electrician.

09/10/2022 00:09:30

Are you thinking of running all the machines at once. If not then you could just draw what is needed at one time. I would not think of overloading a Inverter. Underload no problem. Although when setting up a Inverter you input the Max current of the motor to use. Which would be difficult if you had multiple motors with different FLC.

Thread: largest diameter indexable face mill
09/10/2022 00:04:15

The largest i have & use with some success on the small Tom Senior with MT2 taper is 63mm 5 inserts. I have 2. One has the standard type square inserts while the other has the round disc type. They both work very well, although i only take light cuts. I think the deepest i tried was 0.25mm but uisually less. I have shown them many times in use on my youtube video's. I also think JasonB has shown a few too. What i found was quality is the most important. I have a 50mm 5 insert i think imported version . It is both very noisy & sparks like a firework. The big ones are top quality ones Widax & work much better. Probably more down to the inserts than the actual cutter body. Hope this helps.

Nice work. I have done a lot of GRP and composite work in the past.

The best tip I got for avoiding the itch was to wash or shower with cold water. If you use hot or warm water, you open the pores and the go little fibres go straight in.

Yes i did get a bit on my arms. Luckily a neighbour had given me some oversleeve protectors. They helped immensely.

Hi Steve

MDF is fine, you just need spray on several coats of high build primer and keep flatting it till there's no orange peel. That way your mould gel coat is shiny, it takes wax better (I hated the PVA) and therefore parts easier.

I made a roller with pop rivet washers it's better for getting the air out of the matting.

Yes looking back it would have been much better to spend more time on prep. My problem was it is something I had never done before. So if I were to do it again i would follow what you advise.

Thanks for the info Dave.

Thread: My cruise
06/10/2022 22:44:28

Oh dear , so sad after waiting all that time. I guess you being honest did cause the refusal. I hope they get you booked on another soon. I do know with cruises they are very strict probably because of the confines of a ship with so many people.

Always fancied a cruise but so expensive.

Thread: A write off Motorhome repair
06/10/2022 18:15:31

Hi Dave. The side panel did not require any filler. I just gently rubbed down the stipply gel coat which was quite thick. The part came out very good with very little prep for paint. I guess making it from MDF was a mistake as it's a tad porous, hence the rough finish.

The reason i missed lots of footage of more work was the intention was not for a Youtube video. But just to show friends.

The reinforcing at the back was done with Stainless steel tube 25mm dia. This was held in place with clamps & then overlaid with single matt. Then once cured that was overlaid with around 5" deep , what i will call 4 ply matting. I know it's termed in Grams but not sure of the rating.

No magic, just hours & hours of tedious stippling resin from underneath. The corner post was just overlaid with 3 coats of matting until solid.

Thanks Ady. It took a while but turned out far better than I expected.

06/10/2022 12:41:46

Hi there. I have just found this subject Vehicle restoration. So i am posting a video for anyone to watch. It is mostly of the rebuilding of Glass fibre parts. I had to make patterns for the moulds , which were made from Insulation foam & wood.

From taking ownership of the smashed vehicle to repairing , painting & completing.

It is something I had never done before so it was a challenge. This was from about 5 years ago, but only just got around to making a video.

Please do post pics of how your friend's bicycle wheel looks after using said jig and vice to straighten it.

Yes Hopper. I hold a pretty low chance of this idea working. Once steel has stretched then i think it would be very hard to reform it.
