Thread: Warco 712 Bandsaw |

Perhaps I was lucky, but my 6x4 Chinese band saw has done all I ever asked of it over the last 20 years, and it has been sorely tested more than once. I think I would look very hard before parting with that kind of money. As another post said, the frames that come with these saws are crap, but it,s easy to build a proper frame, and then it,s all plain sailing. You could buy a lot of kit for that kind of money. |

For that kind of money, I,d be looking for more than a bandsaw for hobby use !!!!!! |

Just reading through Ketans post regarding the problems of dealing with China, and the way they operate, dropping the standard as they go along. I f this were to happen in any other business, the buyer would simply find another supplier, if not in China, then elsewhere. China can only do this for so long and as the old saying has it "If there were no receivers, there would be no thieves" Would it cost so much more to buy from Korea or some such source ? They seem to have a higher standard. |

Thread: Rear toolpost for Chester craftsman |
29/03/2021 13:31:05 |
I made one for my Craftsman lathe using a piece of box tube and two pieces of 16mm plate [which were to hand ]. Just welded the whole lot together with a few guides to hold the tool bits and a 12mm rod to fix it to the slot in the top slide. Nothing fancy, but it,s been working for the last few years. I dont think Chester do rear posts. Dont need a milling machine to make one. |

I used to think 3 jaw chucks were dead on, not anymore ! But then, I used to believe in fairies at one time too. The 4 jaw is your only man. |

You can get small magnets from Ali Express already drilled, which will almost pick up the vise, never mind the chips ! I have one of them screwed to a piece of dowel rod and it has no bother picking up my visegrip from the floor every time I drop it [dont ask how often that is ] I find that it is ideal for cleaning up the mill table and the lathe, cheap and effective. |
