Not sure how I send an image Malcolm |
12/06/2018 11:36:35 |
In Mason's Book there are photos - Plate IX and VII that show 6 seemingly silver soldered in and arc below the Firebox door. I can find no reference to what these are either in the book, or on the plans, can anyonr tell me what they are, and what I need to do. I confess I feel a bit lost at the moment. I am sending a second message with a images Thank you in anticipation Malcolm |

A solution if anyone has one. I made the bushes for my Minnie to the sizes shown, i.e with a 7/32 x 40 Tap holes. I do not fance making this. I can purchase from Macc Models what appears to be a suitable alternative, but the smallest I can get has 1/4 x 40 thread. I think I have enough metat remaining to re-drill and tap. Is this the best altetnative or are there any other suggestions ? As always any help and advice will be MUCH apreciated. Best wishes to all Malcolm |

My apologies to all but yet again I am confused. I am now making the tender, but am totally at a loss as to the front end of this. I see and understand all the connections to the Horn Plate The lower half contains the water, and the whole fitting attaches to the Hornplate. But although I undertand most of it I can find no details of the front end needed to retain the water., What retains the water in the front end ???. No doubt I am just being blind and I should be able to fathom it out, but I am completely LOST at presnt. Plan 5 Shows all the Tank fittings. Is the 'TANK END The same as shown also as the FRONT PLATE , which appears to fot to the front of THE TENDER TANK TOP (I think this also the FOOTPLTE ? if so where do the TENDER WATER UNION and the TENDER BUSH fit. I hope I have explained my problem clearly Any assistance is always much apreciated. I assembled all that I ahve done so far so that I could show my sons and Grandchildren , but, I'm sorry I fogot to take photos , and have now taken it all apart as it is easier ( and less heavy ) to deal in samll portions. Thank you Malcolm

What fittings will i need fo the pipework, as I would, if possible rather purchase that try and make them. I have tried to find the answers to these questions from L C Mason's book, but have not found the answers In anticipation of assistance ...A BIG THANKS Malcolm Farrant |

Yet again very, very many thanks to everyobne for your input. I ha\ve gone with Jason's suggestion and am using Techni-Cable,. In conversation with them I was impressed by how very helphul they were. As suggested by Jason I have also bought the thimple from them. As a passing comment I am just so impressed with how helpful everyone is. Alas I seem to have a steady stream of question and problems and evey time i seek help i get an instant helpful response. A big thank you best wishes Malcolm

Thank you both for your suggestions. Jason, I have had a look at the web site there is under the 7x7 very many thicknesses. Would you suggest the 1mm or thinner. Equally not sure if they sell by the meter or by spacific drum lengths. Yeas the 1.5mm thimbles might be a very good idea. Very best and thank you both again Malcolm |

According to L C Mason Reeves used to keep suitable cable for the Minnie, but they do not now. Any suggestions as to what cable to get. It seems, according to Mason, I need about 7 yards. Is that correct. Many thanks to all Malcolm Farrant |

I need to make a rotary cutter for the various 'curved castings' on the Minnie I may well have asked this question before, but seem to have lost it apart from the post from Brian O'Conner.on 27/9/2017 I am almost at the stage of needing this. 1. What diameter rodr is recomended ? 2. What diameter cutter should I use ? Needless to asy any other bits of advice are very welcome. Edited By Malcolm Farrant on 04/04/2018 11:32:03 |
Thread: Minnie Traction - Driving Pins |
01/04/2018 09:14:46 |
L C Mason states that the although there is the one Driving pin on one side the other has 4 pin holes, that are seemingly in an arbitory position. I am confused by the 4 pin holes. Can anyone tell me ... Do these drill thru the Hub cap, as there is no roon outside of that.. If so are they near the egge of the Hup cap. If anyone has a photo I would apreciate a copy. Or of course any other advice is very much apreciated. I hope what I have said makes sense !! My best wishes to all Malcolm |
