Dear All, Me again I have got to the bottom of my issues re back gear etc but today I put it all back together only to find now when I try to start it it pops my fuses. Everything turns by hand but with power them Pop. So what have i done to cause this issue. The only thing I have done that could be an issue is a small oil leak from the gear box which dripped onto the motor this was quickly cleaned up. Any suggestions would be appreciated before I head back to the workshop to strip it all back down. Regards Ian

So cancel my last question I have found out the hard way but just bolted it all back together but have now make another discovery it would appear that it has been modified and I suspect my uncle was the one! So there are no stepped pulley's on any of the drive shafts, but the main drive shaft lower saw wheel has a huge pulley ( 10" ) on it which then interferes with the back gear mechanism. So can anyone point me in the direction of said pulleys with out resorting to the US and very expensive costs. |

So one more question which is is the back gear dry or will I get a leak? Just wondering as seal on cover plate. Regards |

So I have found a manual but Suprise Suprise I now have more question? So it would appear that my uncle modified the saw but to what extent I don't know. I do not have a coned pulley at the bottom on the motor. I do seem to have the small lever that engages the back gear! It moves and there is a noticeable click, however it does not seem to make any difference to the blade speed. So is there anyway of finding out if the back gear is still in the machine without stripping it all apart? and can anyone suggest where I could get a coned pulley from ? would its overall size matter as long as it fits within the guard ?

So my next question is could I cut scaffold tubes lengthwise with a band saw. I know I will need to take it easy and I will need to take my time. About 12inch lengths. Any assistance or ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Regards |

Many thanks for all your help especially Jonathan. I have found some paperwork etc. It would appear that the machine is far older than I thought, the serial number dates it back to 1942, interestingly its got a brooks motor fitted which I think maybe not original but who knows. |

Dear All,
I have had a look at the Delta site even found a serial number on the machine but it does not match anything on said site. In fact its not like the one shown on the site to identify the machine. Its just a small plate just above table level with what appears to be a 6 digit number. I am awaiting Delta to come back to me but can anyone else help with the identification or whereabouts of handbook / user manual. Many thanks in advance Ian |

So I have had a couple of previous attempts at constructing a steam loco "Tich" which after numerous year was sold just about started I then decided that I still needed to build a loco so requested Simplex frames etc. for a Christmas present so now I need the construction article. Does anyone have a copy that I can either download of hard copy happy to pay costs. Or can some one point me in the direction to download a copy. I also have a small vertical engine to rebuild that my late grandfather built many many moons ago Regards Ian |
