Thread: Harrison M300 Thread Dial Indicator (Imperial) |
26/04/2019 18:18:37 |
Hi there. Bit late joining this thread but suddenly had to remember how to cut threads on a lathe the other day. Looked for a replacement in the usual places including Harrison's themselves but they were wanting silly money.BTW I guess you will all know that small Harrsion lathes are all sourced via Taiwan. Somebody recommended HPC Gears in Chesterfield and they suggested that I try a 16 tooth gear to run up and down the imperial 4tpi lead screw. Part No. ZPG2-16 I turned up an new bush and drilled the nylon gear to accept the 1/8"dia pin. (Is it my imagination or is this device a mixture of imperial and metric measurements?} Works just fine for others in a similar boat. Gear wheel plus post and packaging and vat was £22. Somewhat better that the £100+ prices I had seen. Cheers Malcolm

Thread: Anyone bought a new Myford |
02/12/2018 19:45:47 |
Don't know if I am a bit late joining this conversation but I purchased a fully refurbished Myford Super 7 from Myford at Mytholmroyd about 18 months ago. I specified a 3 phase variable speed motor and control panel but no screw cutting gearbox. I do have the full set of standard change gears if I want it to cut screw threads. I am very pleased with it. Only reservations would be the very small spindle internal diameter and although you can use as a milling machine it is not best suited to this. in comparison with the experience i had from the purchase of a Chinese look alike Bridgeport vertical miller ( which was horrendous to start with) I would stick to UK machines anytime.

Hi Raymond I am even newer than you. First Post! I am interested in your experiences, so far, with the Warco Super Major. What are you using if for and are you pleased with it? Any other information greatly appreciated. |
