Thanks for all the replies, I have ordered some Black Engravers Wax to try that. Will report back when I have tried it.

Question for you all, some of my steel rules are getting difficult to read as the graduations are no longer black. Any ideas how best to restore them please?

I think you will find that junior hacksaw blades are not high speed steel like the better quality normal hacksaw blades generally are.

One phase say Red goes straight to the motor not via the switch! Then use the switch to reverse the other two phases round to reverse the motor.

I think it is a drill sharpening tool.

Thanks Bob, that’s useful. A friend of mine recently showed me some pictures of a model fire engine which I thought might be to this design. It turns out that it is actually a Bing produced model.

Yes laser cutting can leave a hard skin, suggest you tickle them with an angle grinder first.

Yes it is for controlling the mesh of the worm. I have the drawings and can post them if anyone is interested.

I built one years ago, I don’t recall any particular issues, I can post some pictures of it if you want.

Yes Mick that’s exactly what I was thinking.

I would slot them before parting them off to length. That way you can hold the bar stock in the machine vice with the end for slotting overhanging.
