Hi Dave, That's fantastic, thank you so much for the quick response just what I needed, my new challenge after this is to make the 3 phase motor run on single phase with a capacitor, hopefully save me buying new 3 phase converter again, Many thanks again George

Thank you Noel, I've consider using a small timing belt but worried about the thickness of it, but if I turned it inside out would the teeth thickness stop the belt flexing enough around the contour of the pulley which is slightly domed, I've never used any machinery with flat belts before? Many thanks for advise |

Hi everyone, Would any kind member of the forum know where I could buy a flat belt for the grinder please it's 1 inch wide by 19.5 long Many thanks Edited By George Jervis on 15/04/2023 15:32:26 |

Thread: Chinese diesel heater |
03/01/2023 10:40:01 |
Hi everyone Just my Tuppence worth, I've use one of these to heat my workshop for over 4 years now, without any issues and found it the cheapest way, being a child of the 70s before H & S got properly intervened, I used common sense when I installed it. I have a little of grid system solar panel charges car battery which runs the diesel heater, I'm not a electrician or heating engineer just a bodger trying to stop my toys rusting, and no I don't have workshop insurance so it's my own risk, |

I have installed one into my workshop, I found its the best way to heat my workshop, I use a couple of larger tractor battery which is charged with a 210watt solar panel on the workshop roof and a cheap pwd inverter, I also have a 12volt 1000 watt to 230v inverter which I use to run my workshop lights or my lathe/mill lighting (led ones) (not my lathe and mill their 3 phase), and any thing else like cordless drill battery packs etc, their not used all at the same time but does help to keep the bills down for the home management

Thread: how to identify a indexable carbide tip |
17/08/2022 16:42:28 |
Hi everyone Well yesterday I rang a excellent company,( not sure if the rules allow me to name them?), and with a brief description and several emails of my tool holders and tip measurements to their tech team we identify what sizes they were, I placed a small order with them to just to make sure, well today at midday they arrived and were all correct Many thanks everyone for you help with this George (bodgers workshop) |
15/08/2022 18:40:51 |
I hope this is not a silly question, but why aren't the cutting tip identification letter and numbers put on the tool holder ? |
15/08/2022 17:59:40 |
Hi old Mart, I've just checked the measurements on that tip, it's identical to your measurement and has the 8 cutting sides, but theirs is no name on the tip apart from the WV 04 I've put a picture of it in my album Many thanks George |

Hi everyone, A few years ago I managed to pick up a number of secondhand indexable carbide tip tools/holders with at least one used carbide tip in each holder, I'm now looking to replace the old warn out tips but having difficulty working out the sizes needed, I've put the tool holder numbers in to Google to find the carbide tips have a totally different number to the holder??, one tool a (kennametal pssnr 2020k12 f2kv26) suggest the replacement to be a SMNG1204. 06 but written on the tip is wv04?, having never purchased new tips before i would greatly appreciate any help for advice please, I've been to my local engineering firms and had a look at their tool holders and bits they have but haven't been able to identify the ones I have, I have put some pictures in my album Many thanks again for the help George (mid Wales) |

11/05/2021 07:21:00 |
Hi No I don't own this item, I saw it on Face poke where someone else had asked the question "what is this item" his dad had brought it from an antique shop as a curiosity and didn't know what it was, so I thought I put it on here to see if anyone could help? I'm still in contact with the gent, I will ask the question when he next sees his dad if you would kindly take a video for me George |
