Thread: Warco WM250VF Face Plate |
16/08/2017 19:42:56 |
Hi All, Need some advice here. Was going to start cleaning up a motorcycle rear disc on the face plate. When checking the alignment I found the outer face to be 0.13mm (5.1 Thou) out and the inner face to be 0.07mm (2.75 Thou) out. I have cleaned all the mating surfaces on the headstock and the face plate to rule out any dirt causing the misalignment. Should I take a small skim off the face plate to true it up? Any other advice would be welcome. Cheers the Noo John. |

Hi Alan, In the offshore oil and gas industry, Belzona was used to repair corroded / eroded flange faces and large pitting in pressure vessel internal surfaces. It can to be machined using a flange re-facer to give the correct flange surface. Very hard once set. Belzona is a Lloyds and HSE approved for these type of repairs. You may find something here.**LINK**

Pidgey pipe should be fine. I think it is a nylon based material. We used it offshore in our old pneumatic control panels and for testing instrumentation in the workshop. Some of these panels are about 40 years old and still going strong. WP of 300PSI. Burst pressure about 90Bar / 1300psi. (Tested when we were bored on a night shift!) Available in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" 3/4" and 1" and also metric equivalents.

Thread: WM250VF Head Stock |

Hi All, Decided to carry out Journeyman's leadscrew gear train retractor mod on the WM250VF. Thought I'd better take off the front cover on the head stock housing that holds the LCD RPM display and the speed control knob to make sure there was nothing in the way of the hole I was going to drill and tap. I found the Live wire going to the RPM indicator PSU was actually rubbing on the head stock spindle!! No doubt it would have rubbed through eventually. You can see from the photo where it has been rubbing on the shaft. Would just take about 5 minutes to check your own WM lathes. Cheers the Noo John |

Hi Bill, Yes, seen it before. Amazing playing by the youngsters. Their mum is a good teacher though. Did a tour with the Ythan Fiddlers 2 years ago in Nova Scotia and had an amazing time. Big fan of Gerry Holland. Cheers John

Hi Peter, Yes it was. Nearly 35 years on the Delta. Learned my trade on the old huff and puff instrumentation. Was your brother called Colin? He was my supervisor for a few years on Delta.

Been skulking on the forum for a while and have gleaned a wealth of information from you all. Been 38 years in the offshore oil and gas industry working as an Instrument Tech (Tiffy) and retiring in a few weeks. Just bought a Stuart 10V kit as a first project. Main interests are motorcycles (Scott Squirrel 1927, Yamaha SR500 and a Harris F1), model engineering, anything mechanical and playing traditional fiddle music. Machines bought for retirement are the WM250VF lathe and the WM 14 mill. Cheers the noo John Slaven
