"Made the launcher for the children"......I've used that excuse too! |

In the bottle rocket, the way I see it is the mass of the expelled fluid relative to the mass of the projectile tells the tale;water shoves it along quite nicely, but when just air is released, the bottle hardly notices it,couldn't care less, really.Enter Murphy's third law"If one Can get wet,one Will get wet"Someone might try Coca Cola as a working fluid,as things go better with Coke. |

Hello, new member here in Canada.I am starting Pete Rich's five inch GWR Dean Single, reduced to 2 1/2 inch gauge, following his articles in ME.I have most of them(I think?) but I am missing those from issues 4390,4409,4432,4438,4440,4442,being instalments 2,12,16,17,18,19.I have not been able to find out if there were more later.I believe this was the time of Mister Rich's passing. The first instalment was in October 2010.If someone has the missing articles and could scan and forward them to me I would be eternally grateful.Thank you in advance for any assistance I might receive. Mike. |
Thread: Hello |

Hello from Western Canada. My workshop includes a nine-inch Southbend lathe, milldrill,Asian lathe of larger size than the Southbend which I have not used much yet, drill press and all the little stuff that clutters the place until required.I have built one marine engine,a much modified double ten using no castings. The crankshaft is below the bedplate,so all the rods are longer and the radius of the expansion links is changed accordingly.I "inherited"a Cliff Blackstaffe 2-4-2 partially built, which I have done a lot of work on,mostly cylinders and valve gear. The drawings are very faded and require a fair bit of head scratching. My new project is Peter Rich's five inch Dean Single, built in 2 1/2 gauge, which will give me a locomotive which I can carry by myself and it will fit on a windowsill.I have some of the ME articles on construction, but I am missing a number of them.If anyone has the complete series I would love to hear from them.It began in October 2010,Vol 205,No 4389. I look forward to corresponding with other members regarding our common interests. Mike Stacey Saltspring Island British Columbia. |
