Thread: Cheap but decent Mini Tape Measure

I think I will stick with my midgies whisker, ba hair, snoot o me bunnet and twa dreel spangs.

Must be merican terms as the English spel cheker doesn't recognize a lot of that.

Thread: Varnish or not
09/01/2017 22:24:28

I would say that it all depends on the conditions and use the model will be put and on the type of paint being suitable for the job, proper paint will protect and beautify without varnish.

But do whatever floats your boat unless it is illegal, immoral or fattening.

I'm in what the local council tells me is Moray, but I still prefer to call it Banffshire.

Thread: Making an engineers sliding bevel. Apprentice piece?

Ah but competent left handed folks still look strange doing things in a left handed way.

I have practiced left handedness till I'm a fairly proficient ambdextrous handed person.

Thread: An open request for microcontroller type equality

As a Luddite and confirmed heathen - Doric with a bit of English thrown in has sufficed for me up till now.

COBOL, FORTRAN, BASIC, C+, C++PIC, AVR, PYTHON, AVA, Ada all languages I have never used, I did some Pascal at college and didn't understand it either.

In this day and age, why cant a computer be made to understand *******(insert your own national language) like what it is wrote and nae mangle it for a computers benefit. Would stop all this argy bargy. cool

Bare and Full as used by Martin Evans on his drawings meaning minus a bit and Plus a bit.
Some form of reference to the ISO limits and fits and where to find them (H8/f7 for a hole bases running fit)

Bare and Full puts my mind into Page 3 mode

Thread: Fridge problems

One of the above learned suggestions being duff will certainly cause ice build up, faulty defrost heater is the most likely or the displaced thermostat phial, then faulty/stuck thermostat, too full is the cheapest possibility and the most obvious to diagnose (also cheaper just to buy less food).wink

Loss of refrigerant least likely on my list, dry and low humidity is a bonus as less moisture in the air to freeze.

Door, sorry you checked that first.

Get yourself into the local High Dependancy Unit for 2 weeks then another 2 weeks in ordinary ward -- worked for me.

Thread: 14mm spanner
30/10/2016 20:04:54

Spannering much of my working life life has meant purchasing a spanner to fit the bolt/nut needing attention and learnt to live with it, results in a toolbox full of spanners and every one useful on the relevant bolt/nut whatever size.

Sometimes if I'm really lucky having to use a 13 mm spanner on the bolt and a 14mm on the nut and not developed a complex about it.smiley
