Thread: Aluminium solder
21/08/2022 07:34:09

When watching YouTube an advert came up with aluminium solder rods, you heated up the material being soldered took the flame of the job and the solder just flowed and made a nice fillet along two bits of aluminium approximately 6 inches long. I think I saved the advert on my computer.

Or you could take it apart and see how it works. Perhaps give it a good clean up or any replacement parts needed.

Thread: Helium Ballon
15/08/2022 07:19:08

I was sitting in my garden yesterday and spotted in the sky I thought its a UAP or UFO. Being interested in Ufology I got my binoculars and focused up on the UFO, disappointing it was a helium balloon, a six or a nine rising quite rapidly towards the clouds. Living on a flight path , planes from all directions high up and lower, Luton Airport and Stansted I thought how dangerous these balloons can be if they entered the engine. Would it be pulled in or would the force of the air displacement push the balloon away ?. How high would a helium party balloon achieve before it would burst, as it reached very high clouds.

Bob    Spelling of the title incorrectly, sorry.

Thread: Tens Machine
02/08/2022 12:15:03

If the Tens pads are on my back for 24 hrs or more a visible and skin change in texture occurs, this is why I think up to date Tens have a max of 30 minutes. At the time of that full power shock I wished I took a photo of it as the marks were viable for a week or so. I use the Tens on 4, the most I can stand is 7, no way can I take 10. They are recommended for use with arthritis and strains, but not a cure just pain relief. In my opinion they are cheap to buy and no need for Paracetamol or any over the counter pain relief.

Hello all, I have been using a Tens Machine for many years and still use one which must be 25 years old, the up to date models are better and have more options. The reason for this question is that the original Tens had a fault, I remember I was in a hotel I switched the Tens on the

four pads were placed on my lower back, as I switched it on I was knocked to my knees to the floor, and was left with four red type shock burns on my back, it automatically switched on at 10 the maximum. The power from these machines is amazing using three AAA batteries and the batteries last a very long time, the original Tens can be left on all night the new ones switch off after half an hour, this only happened once so that's why I still use it. My question is how can three AAA batteries have that power and last a long time in use. I've used the search on the forum with no results.

Thread: Scorchio!

I've been watching the Tour de France and have noticed that no house roofs have solar panels, and when the Tour of Spain starts in September you will notice the same. These are countries that have a great deal more sun and are warmer, free power no fossil fuel needed.

If the general public are really worried about global warming, and I don't think they are or the Council they should be investing in friendly cycle ways. I have in my life time cycled over 200,000 miles and use to with my wife do our shopping. I now have stopped cycling as its to dangerous for me to use the road, these large vehicles, drug use and mobile phones. When I say drugs I mean medication, as strong pain killers state, don't take if this affect your driving.

We are a want want society and this is why I think the masses don't give a toss about global warming. My opinion.

My father in the early 1960s used Viscostatic car oil which claimed to clean the engine as well as engine oil. He had a mk 1 Vauxhall Victor, he was sure that this knocked out the top end of the engine. I remember going up and down the new M1 motorway with the new top end with running in sign on the back.

Thread: JUN-AIR Compressor
11/06/2022 16:59:27

I put a scriber in the pin hole and wiggled it around that's why the hole is raised Clive.

11/06/2022 16:32:00

Hello all,

On this JUN-AIR compressor any idea what the part on the right is,its not the adjustment for pressure as that is inside the black box that the electric leads are held.

This arrow shows the pin hole, shame as using a pointed tool it feels solid all around the pin hole.

Thanks Bob 20220611_161606.jpg

Just noticed Dave`s reply, new tank needed.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes it is the pancake type, very silent and expensive oil, £30 for under half a litre.. I just took the drain valve off and yes there is a plastic pipe but lack of maintenance in the past has left rust in the pipe blocking it up..I think it needs a plate to be welded on the corroded area and a flush out.

Thanks Bob

07/06/2022 16:13:58

Hello,

I have two JUN-AIR compressors from my late fathers shed,Ive checked them out but one has sprung a leak from the air tank. Its a pin hole and a good amount of water came out under pressure. The two compressors which have the drain on top of the tank, why would this be as water will gather at the bottom. My cheap compressor with a thin gauge tank has the drain on the bottom which is the obvious place to put the drain.

My question is what is the best way to repair this pin hole ,I dont have any welding equipment. And how can you drain these compressors with out turning them upside down under pressure

Thanks Bob

Thanks for the replies, that scart adaptor wont fit my tv and the reviews don`t sound that good, it has three jack points so I will have a look at that. A new DVD player could be the best option, its a shame the player works fine , another electrical item will be in the loft.
