I have read this thread with some interest and growing anger, if there is a minority who are not happy with the way this forum is run well I say sod off and form your own forum and you can argue amongst yourselves. For myself I think it was great just the way it was and I say a BIG THANKYOU to Neil and the moderators for giving up their time to provide us with this forum----end of rant Mick |

I'm having a good day-whilst rehanging my front room curtains managed to knock me 32" smart tv over and trash the screen, also broke a topslide casting where it bolts to cross slide on my shaper, I have a leak in the roof of outside store and I can't find the source, and I just cleared the living room ready to decorate I think I'going to quit while I'm ahead (sound of cans being opened) Mick |

Thread: Best workbench height |
05/11/2015 09:54:15 |
Basically if your arms hurt its too high if your back hurts its too low, sorry if that sounds flippant but machines and vices can be raised quite easily if bench is too low, if its too high then shorten the legs

One further thought-carbon dioxide is released trees etc breathe it in and put oxygen back in the atmosphere if we hadn't chopped dowm great swathes of rain forest and native woodlands a balance could be reached plus as I understand it more oxygen is pumped out by certain forms of plankton than all the remaining forested areas that are left, one day the human race will kill the planet Mick |

Thread: End mill sharpening jigs |
18/10/2015 14:04:36 |
I have also made HH's end mill jig/lining tool for engraving dials/dividing head and various jigs for sharpening lathe tools etc. Harolds web site is excellent his instructions clear with no waffle and I am a dedicated fan. Chris as already mentioned make his end mill jig and get sharpening there is a lot of machining techniques to learn as you progress Mick |

Cheers Nick just ordered mask from Axminster should do nicely Mick |
11/10/2015 19:27:29 |
Seems I should take more care of them, I have previously used hot water instead of warm which can leave glasses misty its the same with my bird feeders, tried the warm/washing up liquid/air dry method and they are better but I shall have to get new ones as they are well scratched Thanks Mick

Thanks gents--a few things to try there, I have a couple of specs and I'm afraid they get put down wherever I am working, David has a good point about that-I'll have to be more careful- I do like the hair shampoo method but will try the washing up liquid first ( mainly cus I ain't got much hair ) Cheers Mick

I have tried washing up liquid and glass cleaner just endsup smeared, I must be doing something wrong I spose Mick |
11/10/2015 09:47:52 |
Like most of us I do try to use these when machining, unfortunately being blind in one eye I am finding it difficult to keep these clean and clear so I can see through them, I presume they are made from some sort of plastic which just seem to smear when cleaned anyone got any suggestions of a good cleaning method or a good make of safety glasses or material for guards Mick |
