That tool post looks like a very good solution for any myford owner. I would have to modify unfortunately to make it work on my lathe. ... as opposed to making something from scratch? (I don't know your situation of course). Edited By Peter Greene 🇨🇦 on 24/01/2023 16:56:30
thanks for the help all, I’ll hopefully get the tool post sorted in the next week or so.

Evening all, I am looking for material for the solid tool post mount, a solid block of steel 150mm x 100mm x 65mm or close to those sizes. I have had a look online but haven’t found anything yet.
Thanks |
Thread: Another renewal question |
14/09/2022 08:40:36 |
Morning all, I received a subscription renewal for MEW through the post. I went online to renew, but there is no option to renew digital and print as a bundle like I always have previously. Have I missed something? |
Thread: Ajax AJPR220 |

Thanks for the replies. 15k is at the top end of my spending on a machine, but it will make me some money. Not lots but it helps with the hobby and my salary. I would like to spend less of course. 15k seems expensive but it’s on par with a wabeco etc with enclosure. I am looking at used machinery also but I’m not looking for a project, cnc machining is something I’m learning I don’t want to overhaul an older machine. a HAAS mini mill would be the excellent but unlikely to happen for me.

Evening all, I have been researching cnc mills recently, looked at tormach, syil, wabeco & boxford denford machines. I came across this new mini mill from Ajax. Comes with Siemens 808 controller. cnc is new to me so I would be interested in others opinions. Thanks |

Jed, I am using shell tellus 32. I buy this in 20 litre drums for my day to day work anyway. thanks

Iv had my GH600 since January, it’s used daily and it does leak oil. I have only topped up the oil up twice since January so it’s not a huge problem. Tboy did send me his write up on solving the leak, I intend to do this when I have time.

can I run this motor from an Inverter or is a motor inverter package the best option??
thanks

Thread: Reintroduce myself |
11/03/2020 18:57:12 |
Hi Stevie, I repair 2 & 4 stroke marine engines for a living. In my spare time steam engines and boilers are becoming my newest interest. I have a few stationary engines but steam is fast becoming an obsession. I have an old horizontal mill & lathe that I have little information on. I will post some pics of them.
regards

Thread: Warco GH600 |

Thanks for this thread, interesting stuff. My GH600 was delivered early January but it’s still on the pallet due to my workload at the moment. i do plan on stripping the machine and cleaning up all rough edges. Also thanks to Jed who very kindly allowed me to visit him and see the GH600 first hand before I placed my order.

Thread: Know of a good lathe bed grinding firm? |
08/04/2019 17:54:36 |
Hi, I have been dealing with Matt @ Unislide in Nuneaton. I have his mobile number which he has said I can give to anyone interested, although I don’t want to put it in a post on forum for obvious reasons. I’ll PM the number if you like? Other than that a quick google would give a landline number. I have found Matt very helpful, I am dropping my Model A Boxford off at the end of this month for regrind.

Hi, I tried to contact Brian yesterday regarding a regrind on a Boxford. Brian informed me that he had retired but would pass my information on to someone else. Last night I got a call from Matt who I believe may also be in Nuneaton. I have sent him pics today so as I get more info on location etc I will happily pass information on.

Thread: Sc4 spindle speed |
02/04/2019 00:13:35 |
I have been looking into buying a Sieg sc4 510. My main concern is the lowest spindle speed is 150rpm, This is a bit quick for thread cutting. I also looked at a Warco wm240b. Purely due to the fact that it’s belt driven and the lowest speed of 150 could be halved relatively easily. I have had a search but not seen any posts similar. 3 phase vfd could be an option but preferably one for the future. could anyone that has an SC4 share their experiences? any ideas welcome.
thanks |
