Will the Photos and description be published as it may put some members off as they may not want them put into public domain as in the magazines Hi Derek, The rules say entries chosen for publication will win, which makes it explicit that the winners will be published. Neil |

Just bumping this back up in the hope of getting a reply. Hi... I don't monitor the forum 24/7 The competition is 'open ended' until I run out of copies of the 25yr special. I think there may be 10 or 12 copies. If it goes well, I will look for a way to extend it. Neil

Many readers will remember that in 2015 we produced a ‘special’ that celebrated 25 years of Model Engineers’ Workshop. In sorting through things following the recent changes, I discovered a modest number of copies of the special, which we originally thought had sold out. Rather than trying to sell these, I am offering them as prizes for a photography competition. Email a good quality picture of yourself in your workshop, along with around 3-400 words of description and your address to [email protected]. If your picture is chosen for publication, you will win a copy of the 25-Year Special together with a £25 gift token. No alternative prizes can be sent, and the editor’s decision is final. Overseas readers, please note, we can only send gift tokens in UK pounds. |

I've updated the information on the latest MEW (317). I'm trying to gradually spot anything out of date that I can edit myself. Diane is overseas at the moment, but has been in touch with me regarding ME details being rather out of date. She will be updating them when she returns. Neil |

Hi folks, I was just going to post an update on behalf of Darren, but I see he's a step ahead of me! Thanks for your patience, I'm sure most users will appreciate the benefits of having someone working on this who is communicating directly with users. neil |
Thread: What Did you do Today 2022 |
13/06/2022 21:41:39 |
Well... Planning to strip the wallpaper behind the bathroom radiator I unhooked it from the wall and moved it out an inch, just to check it would move. As I hooked it back up, a joint in the pipe came adrift. I was able to isolate the system before we lost more than a bowlful of water. It was a small bore end-feed fitting as the installer must have cut the pipe too short. Fortunately I had the right gear including a big bit of skamolex as a back board and was able to flux it and resolder. The first solder I found was old plumbers solder... for a wiped joint that just wouldn't flow, luckily I found some 60/40 that made it behave (it's old enough to be leaded solder plus it's heating not drinking water). Miracle of miracles, I repressurised the system and two hours on it's still holding pressure! The wall I've stripped already revealed a life-size and very rough cartoon I must have drawn as a teenager - including a fart joke... Neil |

My MEW online mag is no longer visible on this web site. When I click on the Magazines link in the top menu I get just a blank page except for the top and right-side menus and ad's. I may have missed previous announcements about Mortons. Ed. I see the archive but presently it's not showing the most recent issues of MEW. I know there have been some challenges moving everything over to Mortons server recently and the techs are having to understand the rather bespoke system as they get everything sorted. Neil |

I see no option for Digital only for MEW, has this been removed? Roger It hasn't yet been set up. I don't know the reason. Neil |

Me too, as expected. MEW317 and ME4693 arrived together through my letterbox a few minutes ago, so no interruption to magazines. Serious complaint: with one exception all the men on the front covers have more hair than me, and no pot bellies! Surely my bay-window physique and extra-wide centre parting is more typical of model engineers than the handsome hunks pictured... Dave I hope you are talking about ME and not MEW... Neil |

This is 100% legitimate. Mortons are just fulfilling their obligation to inform you of the change. I did announce the change of publisher in Eds Bench recently, their details are in the panel next to it. Neil

That's the way pay in advance subscriptions work, a major saving for the purchaser in exchange for commitment to a number of issues. In the case of ME the benefit of an annual subscription is particularly generous. The 12 issues of the 26 you have already received have a cover cost of cost slightly more (£59) than an annual direct debit subscription (£58). Obviously, this reduction only applies if you commit to a full year's subscription. Neil. |

Hi Derek, This is just a move from one server to another. No changes in functionality have been made, but we are looking at what might be improved in the future. I'm changing the thread title to make it explicitly for raising any issues with the site functionality, as Darren suggested. Neil

I'm awaiting an update on where they are. Unfortunately it's a big job to transfer everything over, and it needs to be done carefully. Ultimately it's better we have some delays than errors in subs information. Neil |
