Thread: Help needed getting a Triac up and running
21/07/2018 13:25:29

Hi Dan,

There will probably be more help for you on the MYCNCUK forum, regarding a conversion e.g:- **LINK**

Even though I use Mach4 to run my Syil X5, if you do decide to convert, I would suggest looking at UCCNC **LINK**

rather than the no longer in development Mach3.

Replacement coils and clutch kits are available

Thread: Magnetic mill vice
20/06/2018 22:27:05

Electro magnet, a bit like the maglock the OP was referring to!

The Turbomill Chuck obviously has a market, otherwise it would not be in production, PLUS I only posted the clip,

in response to earlier posts.

Speculation as to their use/usefulness I'll leave to others.

Thread: M-Machine

+1 for M-Machine

Bought all of the copper for my Castle boiler from them, as they have 10G copper sheet (With certificate if needed) in stock (actually 3.3mm) and so could keep to the published design without any issues, that may be caused by using the more easily available 3mm sheet.

John,

Have you tried contacting the new Alibre (No longer owned by 3D) team about your old version?

They have been very helpful with others in a similar situation.

Thread: Mill vice position?
30/05/2018 14:41:21

At home and at work, I try and use the vice, fixtures etc, on alternate sides of the table, in an attempt to even out the wear.

Always avoided the centre, unless (as said by others) I need the travel.

Thread: Diamond grinding wheels

Use Diamond for Carbide and CBN for HSS.

Also use good quality wheels (we used Norton Abrasives for our standard grinding wheels).

You could also look into having the sub base Pressure Grouted to stabalise and strengthen it.

Hi Bruno,

It's usual to put a Joggle in the steam pipe as per your third option.

There is also an alternative method of sealing the steam pipe at the smoke box end, that eliminates the need for two threads of equal pitch and instead uses an "O" ring seal. Discussed here:- **LINK**

Here's another set of tables, that cover a lot of extra pitches and TPI (goes down to 0.20mm pitch for M1.0 Fine)

Just tried 127 on my Sino readout and it accepted it with no problem. I used a pcd of 360mm. what pcd did you use, as that may be the limiting factor (if you post the pcd you used I'll try that in my setup)?

The maximum number of holes you can enter in the PCD function of the Newall DP700 readout (fitted on my Myford S7) is 999

Also the Anilam Wizard and Mini-Wizards I've used in the past are DRO's
