Sure you've counted them right ?

A 'standard' stranding for some US stuff is 33 wires / 32 AWG ( 0.008" dia. ).

This is 0.75mm^2 cable.

Some toggle switches come with them.

I don't suggest this switch is suitable for your application, just an eg.

No idea where you can get them for rotary-type items if that's what you have.

Pic. of YOUR switch would help.

When I was at work ages ago some had an engraved plastic thing  ( sort of black/white sandwich, can't remember the name of the stuff, gravelux ?? )

You sure it's mould?

We had a damson and the fruits always had a whitish-grey 'bloom' which is, AFAIK, normal.

If it is mould it's probably botrytis and a search should produce images of that.

But Ross Courtney is / was a company who make / made many types. ( So it's a bit like 'Tufnol' covers a lot of different items )

Not seen or used them for ages, used to be common on hot things like the wires from iron elements, thermocouples etc.

They are, to some extent, self-healing.

If the environment is prone to nasty voltage spikes the device needs a MOV. That's what they were designed to deal with.

Incidentally, MOVs degrade over time. We had to change them every year on some sensitive kit.

[b] Suppression of radio frequency noise either incoming or outgoing.

[c] Probably. I've known them to fail for no other reason than they felt like it with no problems after replacement.

Thee may be 2 other caps. ( probably smaller ) from neutral/ground and phase/ground in a 'Delta Suppressor' arrangement. Not always fitted.

I use a wiper motor for a mill table x-axis feed. It's for VW Golf, made by FEBI. Cost about the same as yours.

I think they do run hot. Off load @12.8V the casing on mine tops out at some 53oC according to my IR Thermometer. after some 30 mins. or so.

Does not get so hot in service despite being loaded as it's PWM

I've done Derby - Guildford MES Show in one day, no big deal. Although it was on a Sunday, not Saturday.

Leeds isn't all that further. ?? It's about 1 hour north of me, so that would make a 4 hr.-ish one way.

IIRC my journey ave. was 56 mph. or thereabouts.

IF Warco held the Open day over a weekend then I'd probably consider having a look.

Didn't Warco once have a Northern Showroom at Warrington, or am I hallucinating again .... ???
