Thread: Drive Belt for Warco WM250 |

Hi Tom, My motor is a 4 pole 1.5Kw which at 230v 50Hz spins at 1400rpm. More by luck than judgement the chuck rpm is 10x the inverter output frequency. The maximum speed is 900 and I've never come close to using the max. The inverter is a Jaguar Cub. The motor is mounted on a hinged frame under the bench with a slot cut in the worktop for the belt to pass through. The weight of the motor provides most of the belt tension, I increase the tension by pressing down on the frame and slipping a couple of pins into the bench legs. Hope that all makes sense, Mark. |

Evening Tom; Sorry for the delay in replying. I have the Chester DB10VS, the Chester version of the Warco 250, which has a stepped pulley on the main shaft. I am using the larger 130mm diameter pulley. I have slung the 3ph motor underneath and fitted a home made 60mm o/d pulley. I had my doubts about the simple round belt, but it has performed perfectly for many years. As a bonus it will slip when I do something stupid and that has happened more than once. Cheers, Mark.

Have a look at lathes.co.uk, they supply a wide variety of belts. I used a solid round one and it has served me well for the last seven or eight years. Mark. |

I am building a 5" gauge 0-6-0 "Jinty" whih has inside cylinders and as a result the centre driving axle takes the form of a crankshaft. The next job is to fit the wheels to the axles. I understand the principles of quartering and have made a jig for this purpose. My question is, does the crankpin on the centre wheel have to be aligned with a precise point on the crank axle or can I fit it at any random point, just ensuring that the crankpin on the opposing wheel is offset by 90 degrees? I hope I've explained my problem clearly, Thank you, Mark. |

My lathe suffered the same symptoms, the fuses were fine but a faulty fuseholder was the cause of the problem. Good luck, Mark. |

If I were an accountant I would prefer 1000 sales at £20 as opposed to 100 at £50, be careful you don't make many potential customers think twice, particularly those who might already own hard copies. Mark.

I have installed two of these digital tachometers, one on the lathe and another on the mill, but I chose blue displays as being partially colour blind I could only read the original red/orange displays in the dark. I initially used 9v batteries for the power supply but their lifespan could be measured in hours so I now use the little self contained 12v transformers that come with routers and other electrical gadgets. Hope this helps. |
