Thread: Crown Reversing Tapping Head Instructions
08/02/2019 22:59:36

Hi Emgee,

Yes, it has a clutch, but I am not sure how to adjust it, This tapping head is quite old, and I have never used one before.

I need to tap 1,6mm holes through 1.5mm steel to accept allen bolts. Eventually these will become reed frames for a concertina I am building.

I've seen several youtube videos, but none explain when to adjust the clutch for the best feed.

Hi, I have acquired a Crown auto reversing tapping head to tap some very small holes in stainless steel. However it came without any instructions and I am unsure how to test and adjust it.

Has anyone used one of these, or even has a manual/instructions for one?

I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Thanks,

Mike

Thread: Boxford "Little Giant" Tool Post Grinder - Manual Needed

Thanks Robbo!

This will be very useful info; a quick flick through has already answered a few questions.

Thanks for looking Rex. I had a look at some YouTube vids and got the general idea of what to do. I intend to convert a sprung window blind to mount under the chuck and attach under the carriage to collect the dust rather than use corrugated rubber - I need to finish grind long tapered reamers for bagpipes and then mill them to a D bit shape so the grinder will be useful.

Thank you, Rex and Robbo. I have searched the net and cannot locate any info on the Little Giant. I'll download the Dumore info and take it from there.

Initially I just need to check that it runs properly, and lubricate the necesary bits. I'll learn how to use it as I go along!

Does anyone have a copy of the user manual/instructions for the Little Giant? Mine came without one.

Many Thanks,

Mike

Thread: Amadeal XJ12/Chester Conquest Mill

OK, panic over. SPG sell the same machine and the power feed will bolt straight on, so no additional expense and all my existing tooing will fit.

I have an Amadeal XJ12 mill, which has broken down. As it has a powered X axis feed to the table I would like to salvage this and fit it to a new mill. At first sight it seems as though the Chester Conquest mill is a clone of the XJ12, which would make fitting the power feed unit easier.

Does anyone know whether the two mills are just rebadged versions of a Far East design?

Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Thread: Copper pipe bending

I use "Resin W 8" from John Neale. It is a resin and melts at 70 deg C., and contains no Cadmium. It melts out of the bent tube with boiling water, and the tube walls don't collapse on 180 deg turns. (I make Irish bagpipes, and there are a lot of bends involved!)

Thank you all,

I joined the Boxford Group, got a copy of "Know Your Lathe" on Amazon, and can now set up my AUD.

Hello All,

I have just acquired an AUD which is not presently fitted with the default change wheels for screw cutting. Could anyone provide me with a list of what goes where, or better still a photo?

Many Thanks,

Mike
