tried local places but what they list 22mm is actually 7/8 now i know 0.2mm ish

shouldn't matter but it does as for some custom length goose necks on bikes i'm building.

if still had lathe set up would have gone for 14g and skimmed down but not an option.

only other option is go for 14g and sand length using flap disc on grinder and marker pen.

done it before and got good results but if idea works will need to make 50.

done it loads of times.

me and ex once spent afternoon turning place over to find something did same got new one.

and what was first thing we found upon getting home?

if i remember correctly a spoke is 2.2mm x 56 tpi.

rolling head i have works fine for bike spokes.

stripped load of 26" wheels down and i just use the spokes from them to do short one.

hard part is working out length you need.

just measured some vary from 1.89-1,96mm

not me.

i haven't written anything for publication since early 90s.

little project me and my 10 yr old been working on.

need to make some custom length spokes for a bike project, already got threading head as used to use it in lathe.

but as lathe in storage at min had to find another way.

took old crank and bottom bracket from bike we cut up for parts along with crank arm and a center stripped from old pedal.

and made tool works great, next stage is make die holder for it for small work.

might also weld to box section then can clamp it down to any surface.

total cost excluding head was £0 as all from scrap pile.

is there a good site where i can input od-id and width of bearings to get bearing i need?

need to find some for project.

want to see if i can put some different bearings in a bike hub to fit 14mm axles into it.

as anyone ever built one?

just wondering on best way as need to put some curves in 6mm ply.

30"x10" tapering to 6" for a recumbant seat.

wondered if just soaking in hot water for while would do?

need to do 2-3 pieces then glue them up.

would do one at time put in jig to dry and hold shape.

one in pic trial to see if right shape and made using strips of ply.

actually very comfy..

bike is just a test bed for trying out ideas on till happy hence all the hacking and adding bits to it then will make new frame

got another project under way at min but thinking ahead.

it's for a tadpole style bike

try toothpaste amazing stuff.

used to work where it was made and we always had a tub of it in workshop.

also good mixed in boiling water to clear sinuses.

need to bend a bike frame rear triangle as in link will a plumbers gas torch be up to it?

it is being done as a can it be done project with him.

won't be used on a bike unless he puts it on one to see what it looks like but def not ridden.

know what you mean about wheels though had two done by cycle shop few years ago that bent on me so done my own ever since.

David i highly suspect you are right.

my son is autistic and once gets idea in head it's sometimes better to let him run with it if possible.

so want to give it a go so he can satisfy his curiosity more than anything.

i have built normal wheels but nothing like this.

plan is to use 2 sets of spokes smaller rim spoked. and then spoke from smaller rim outer as on a hub to rim of bigger rim

i do actually love my boy.

and i resent the being accused of not doing so.

he wants to do it as an exercise in doing it neither me nor him are stupid enough to consider using it,

it is purely to see how it would be done and if it could be done,

need to increase number of spokes in 26" bike wheel.

plan is to fit a kids 10" wheelrim in middle with extra spokes in and use a bigger hub and double up number of spokes between that and outer rim.

what's best way to work out spacings?

thinking maybe a strip of card layed out flat and then work it out and tape it on for drilling?

all cos i told my boy it looked interesting idea when we were sorting out bike spares and he laid small wheel on bigger one.

doesn't smell of vinegar.

normally would do pork in cider resting on sliced apples and some honey on top but don't like wasting stuff.

got bottle of medium dry asda sherry 2 yrs ago for cooking.

just found it in cupboard is it still ok to use?

thinking of doing some pork in it.

don't know anything about sherry being a whiskey/whisky and brandy drinker only.

i'm with hastings as well wanted to double premiums went on comparison site theirs was cheapest and lower than prev years policy.

rang them and asked how.

they gave me it for price online. always worth doing looking online.
