Thread: radial arm drill. |
21/10/2016 13:56:55 |
been offered a radial arm drill that was designed for woodworking with dead motor. guy says to fast for metal working is going to get me speeds later. i have a spare drill press motor from metal working one. am thinking if pulleys are same i can just put motor on it. if not will get speed controlled motor for it. other than speeds is there any reason i can't use it for metal working?

Thread: what do you use when designing? |
21/10/2016 07:49:36 |
Just been reading on another forum about what people use when designing stuff. was quite surprised how many people still do it by hand. i admit i do it on drawing board by hand as don't get on with electronic gizmos. even carry small pad to put ideas on or make notes for if i see something i like idea off, wish i did as would love to have go at 3d printing. so what does everyone else use? |

i want to make several capstans for my ml6 lathe so i can just swap complete units over and leave them set up for certain jobs. need to make the bit in pic someone at club suggested broaching it. never seen it done so wondered if one of the wsp series of books cover it? and where i could get one made as can only see normal keyway ones. or is there a better way? i don't have a milling machine. thanks |

From some of the contributions above, anyone would think authors are either some sort of charity, or wrote books for fun. It may surprise some people, but professional writers write for a living. I am sure no-one who contributes to this forum would steal another man's pay packet, yet copying a book, in my mind, is just about as immoral. No, if you need the information contained in a book, then either buy it or borrow it from a library. Grumpy old man's rant over!
the book is mine bought it specificaly for the grinding rest plans. |
