Thread: dore westbury mk2

**LINK**

Thing is i did say yes straight away as it was the cheapest id seen and as it took him 3 days to reply to an email i thought that would be the safest bet .

Just really annoyed , as i hate time wasters.

Been offered the link above at £400 but again unsure

02/03/2016 18:31:54

And again ive had my time wasted ! He no longer wants to sell it and has changed his mind , what a complete joke.

29/02/2016 21:02:25

Hmm its going to be a 6 hour round trip to collect it

26/02/2016 21:23:25

whilst i would love new machine im very fond of old technology, ie the steel being better and it has more character about it

also concerned that the xj is a metric machine and everything else i have is imperial including measuring equipment.

they can order an imperial version but it will take 4 months to arrive , i think for the work i need it to carry out the dore westbury will be fine , even if it needs a light rebuild, but there is always doubt in your mind if you are buying the right model.

so some people know ive been after a mill for a while , ive been offered a dore westbury mk2 , and whilst i know it has its downfalls (round column) its cheap at £175, or should i wait and purchase one of these.....

01/02/2016 18:33:13

Thread: S7 headstock strip down
31/01/2016 15:35:57

as im stipping my s7 down i thought i would have a search on the the internet for correct disasembly instructions on stripping the head stock down , but came up with nothing , seems pretty straight forward but wpuld hate to break something,

also does anyone know how you are meant to get on the back x2 allen key bolts that sit under the pulley that holds the headstock to the bed ?

Or is it a case of taking eveything off the headstock then unbolting the casing.

As always thanks for all the help and support people have given me so far on this i must be annoying some of you with my basic questions , have always felt you can ask silly questions on here and not get laughed at....

Thread: Plating nuts and bolts
24/01/2016 19:42:57

Ive got a gateros large plating kit , its done loads of work and the results are excellent , especailly when you give it a quick polish afterwards , the key with plating ive found is cleanliness, plus the time it takes sometimes is longer than expected , ie you cant rush plating , if you do the results will be poor . Excellent results can be had with time and patience .
