Thread: Telescoping tubes needed |

MichaelG, Him going belly up in 1905 explains why his implement hadn't become popular. Cars at that time where expensive, so only bought by the well heeled, who would not I think have sullied themselves in changing a wheel let alone a tyre. He was 20 years too early with his invention, priced at 26/- per set. "The Austin Seven the motor for the million" could have saved him. Geoff - Ordered more ModRock to continue the drawer saga. |

Another photo in this tyre levers saga, this one showing the bits assembled ready to do battle. Now this should help, but if not then the last one will be with it attached to the wheel/tyre ready for action. With any luck the instructions will be as well, provided noggin plays fair? Geoff - Drawer organising saga now at the Moddeling Rock stage (I knew it as Mod Rock) |

Good replies. V8Eng, How I ever managed to hold down a full time job and prepare my racing car defies belief now. MichaelG, Thanks for the link. Colin, You are closer than you realise, just a*se about face. GordonW, Well worth keeping in mind, provided I manage to remember your method that is. I will assemble the apparatus and take another photo. Geoff - The universe seems to go into reverse on retirement - less time, less energy, eyesight ditto, stamina (what's that) Edited By OuBallie on 03/02/2014 10:59:47 |

Martin, No strop shown in the manual, which I will post if I can find the effing thing. I, of course, put said manual in a safe place, so nuff sed! I did do a photocopy so those are on one of my hard disks, but which one? Geoff - Retirement is supposed to be relaxing. |
Thread: First lathe project completed! |

Jim, You have followed the well trod path of starting with an oscillating engine, as I did in the early '70s. Seeing that engine perform was akin to the feeling I got the first time I cracked the regulator on my Simplex, which then proceeded to pull me and three passengers with ease. Something I'll never forget. Enjoy and welcome. Geoff - Time to sort out SHMBO rear light - Car that is |

As requested by Speedy Builder5:
This should help the sleuths amongst us with luck. Geoff - Sunny but windy, at the moment. Edited By OuBallie on 01/02/2014 14:22:22 |

I have resurrected this thread asking for any information on the header subject, to enlighten those who where asking what the tubes where for. My neighbour paid me a visit last year, and I showed him my lack of progress in removing one of the old tyres from my Ruby wheel. This is the box of parts that need assembling: Is there a Sherlock Holmes in the Forum who can figure out how it works? Geoff - We will need another Noah soon! |
Thread: Damaged motor - Not Happy |
30/01/2014 14:36:16 |
Quite a force needed to break that foot off, so what unseen damage to the motor internals? I'd be very reluctant to accept just a replacement foot. A new motor is what I would be wanting. Geoff - 24 hour headache gone, I think. |
Thread: dro encoders |

Thanks Len. Those lamps look as if they are battery powered as I can't see a power cord. Geoff - Drawer organising at a standstill again |

Electrical, 380v - 11Kv & 132Kv One of my customers was a Professor of Law at Wits, who took to Model Engineering like a duck to water. The finish on his miniature steam engines was amazing. His first engine was a ST V10, and he enquired how to machine the cylinder barrel. Soon put him right that it was covered with lagging, much to his relief. Geoff - Out of the rat race thank goodness. |

Len. P. LED lamp with tripod. Would appreciate details of how you attached it to said tripod please? Geoff - Drawer organising turn for the better, after grey matter decided to co-operate for once! |
Thread: To dump or de-rust? |
26/01/2014 09:39:18 |
Hello Bill, Cannot imagine what you and family went through, vasbyt. Most important that nobody hurt. My method of de-rusting is to use a mix of 4:1 water and molasses. Just done a handful of rusty calipers and after a week in the mix, stirring daily as the molasses settles, they came out with not a speck of rust on them. A rub over with one of those Garryflex abrasive blocks, to remove any left on stains, and they are a bright as new. I've got citric acid powder but never tried that method. Geoff - Drawer organising marathon extended. What can I say? |

JohnS & ChrisH, Stop it please! My sides are hurting and ready to burst. Geoff - My day has been made with laughter. |

Patina, patina, patina. People pay huge premiums for this. Geoff - Sparrow nests up after thinking about it for 5 years! I get there eventually. |
Thread: Confused... |

Diane, I second MichaelG's suggestion. Geoff - Drawer organizing on final. |
Thread: A pie chart we can all relate to... |

Nice one John. Must do a print and place it in a prominent position. Norman, You're on top form my man! Geoff - This pause has lasted two days, what with being side tracked with Yuri's DRO |
19/12/2013 14:19:17 |
Makes me feel so much better knowing others have the same problem. The worst of course, is the item you just put down, it's staring you in the face, but you still spend ages searching for it. Geoff - Drawer organizing progressing in leaps and bounds, not today though. |
Thread: rust removal |

Animal feed molasses in a 4:1 mixture, water:molasses respectively, but some have used an 8:1 solution. Used the former on my spare rusty Austin Seven block, head and other rusty parts, and it removed all the rust and scale. Keep the solution stirred. Geoff - Workshop here I come. |
Thread: What did you do today? (2013) |

Scarf joint Danny? Reminds me that I need to make a jig as well. Geoff - Oh for some of your heat. |
Thread: Shaper 3 phase or Single |

Lee, I'm running my Boxfprd 8" with a VFD, and it's a pleasure to use. The same VFD runs the motor on my drilling machine, which is even more of a pleasure now that I can get the speed spot on. Geoff - Enjoying a mug of Kai. |
