Thread: Plans for Centre Finder Wobbler tool
31/07/2013 12:21:33

I was just looking over the article and Irvine is using some Rolls-Royce aero engine ball joints, but the iliustration looks amost identical to the ball joints in the gear change linkage on our '63 Hillman Minx, so we don't have to go to the 'top of the tree' for the parts.

G'day Jerry,

I knew I'd seen a simple wobler plan in a 1950's issue of Model Engineer. Second one I looked in (Yay). "The Model Engineer" Feb 26th 1953 (Vol. 108 No. 2701). Looks like it would work very well.

I've put it in 'Albums' and select Latest Images. Download the file as the original is larger than what pops up on the screen.

Cheers

Thread: Informatio sought from back Issue(s) of M.E.

Has anyone got the pull out plans from MEW issue 7 Oct/Nov 1991 relating to the 'simple lathe' similar to a watchmakers lathe, and if so, would you be happy to scan them and send me an e-mail of them? None of the digital issues have the pull out plans.

Thanks muchly

Cheers

Thread: Letter to the Editor, Mr Clark

G'day David,

In looking at the very early dig. issues, they mention "pull out, full size plans" for particular projects within. But they're not in the dig. copy to look at. Are you able to include them?

Cheers

Thread: Why is this site's functionality so DREADFUL!!!!!
26/02/2013 07:15:47

Not sure if this worked, as when I posted this it started telling me (again) to log in to use this feature. If you have already received it, please accept my appologies.

Is Safari my problem with this site? I have to login numerous times per visit (sometimes for each digital magazine I want to look at, and any new heading I choose from the list in the 'my account' window, despite the banner saying I'm logged in).

The magazines will not load up unless I am physically looking at the page in question. As our family does not have the internet at home, we go to the library and use their (quite slow) wireless. This is a small country town and the library is only open 3 days a week and I can get to it for 1-2hours on two or three of those days. What this means is I am not able to do anything else while I'm wanting to read a dig. issue.

I can't sellect the one I want, set it uploading, and go and check my e-mails, visit the guild site I'm member of, or any of a number of other things I like/need to do and come back later and sit back with the mag to read (hopefully at home as I don't have the time at the library, so I'd better not shut the page or log out so my wife can use it). It completely highjacks the laptop. And it will only allow one mag at a time. If I wanted to look at consecutive installments on a project, and flip back and forward between issues to double check things, it starts the whole process over again (admittedly faster the next time but taking away any flow and ease, and using up time, time, time).

Frustrating is not an adequate description.

I am so glad I went for the complete package with hard copy delivered to my door. Being on the digital package would drive me nuts; quite apart from finding out after the fact, when I had subscribed and was able to read the forums, that the price of the dig. package only lets you rent viewing rights for the 12 months. As you do not have to print anything, or post anything to these people, I think you are extracting a lot of money from them for a transient product. I'll stick to hard copy.

Just checked the latest page I called up before changing windows to type this (20mins or so. I'm a slow typer) to find the strobing blue bar in the middle of the picture was still there and yet to become a high res pic.

Please, please make this work better.

Duncan

P.S. In regard to the suggestion of charging 4pounds per digital back issue to permanently download them, You've already made your money on them (and rented them). 50p would be plenty for something you don't have to print or post, and you might get quite a few takers at that price.
