And then 'they' wonder why so much rubbish is fly-tipped. Brian Why should people who pay for council services subsidise a commercial builders waste disposal? Domestic only is what your council tax pays for. chris do you realise that because the council does not allow builders, plumbers roofers etc to dump waste they add the cost to your bill so you are paying twice for dumping YOUR RUBBISH. |

rare nice day here in the north east of scotland so decided to take my rudge for a blast, just got off a roundabout when i had a sudden rear wheel blow out, very scary i thought the frame had snapped. a closer look showed red insulating tape had been used instead of a proper rim tape with the result the tube had been rubbing on the spoke nipples. i had given up on armours for a new exhaust for my velocette and sourced one elsewhere so decided to fit it when i got the rudge home. turns out it is 3" to long, i remember when the wife used to say better long than short. o well better attack the nice new chrome with a hacksaw gary |

hi chris, they can be stiff to move but try giving it a good hard pull, you shouldnt damage anything. above the pinch bolt there is a taper pin which keeps the head vertical, tightening this withdraws the taper. never move the speed dial when the motor is off regards gary |

Thread: Plating nuts and bolts |
11/05/2016 06:52:34 |
nothing difficult about plating the heads only tim, simply hang them with a copper wire into the plating tank. very few bolts on a bike need need high torque eg mudguards, stays petrol and oil tanks |
10/05/2016 19:43:44 |
nickel plating looks best on an old bike and if polished can look like chrome but everything has to be grease free, dont worry about embrittlement as you only do the heads on bolts. a kit will last you years if looked after. |
