Another design from Mt G. Gray. Following on from his lathe-mounted bandsaw this is a neat design for a filing machine that can also used with fretsaw blades. It first appeared in issue 12 of Model Engineers' Workshop, August/September 1992 - more details can be found by looking up this issue in the online archive*.
There is one big caution with this design - in filing mode the end of the file extends above the machine and could pose a mjaor hazard to your eyes if you lean forward over it, equally in jigsaw mode the blade is exposed . There are 101 ways to fit a guards to this machine, I suggest copying Stan Bray's approach of a piece of tube held over the end of the file or sawblade by an arm attached securely to the body of the machine with. Please don't operate this machine without such a guard, or without the simple wooden box guards for the lower part of the machine that are described in the article.

Alternatively, the plan can be downloaded as a series of overlapping printable Pdf pages which can be used to assemble a paper version:
We all vote Nick Farr a capital fellow for scanning the original.
Enjoy this plan, but if you do decide to have a go at it or something similar, do make sure it's guarded properly
