Help! Identify a locomotive and give approximate value

2 forum posts 5 photos	Hi, my wife’s work colleague has asked if I can get a value for the locomotive pictured as her partner had passed away. Why they have tasked me is a mystery as I know absolutely nothing about locomotives! I’m therefore hoping someone on the forum can help. I’ll list the information she gave me:- LMS London north eastern railway Bassect locomotive hybrid pre war model. I;m sure you'll need more information so if you can tell me what you would need and how to obtain it I would be very gratefull. Thanks Tony Gibson

517 forum posts 57 photos	It looks like a Bassett-Lowke LNER 2-6-0 that someone has repainted and stuck a different chimney on: LINK Can't help with a value but the fact that it may not be completely original and has been repainted will lower the value. John

2 forum posts 5 photos	That sounds just right, her husbands friend "finished it off" and used a different chimney saying to call it a hybrid. It gives me a starting point to try and value it. Thank you very much for your help Tony

528 forum posts 79 photos	Yes it looks like the Bassett Lowke model, I had one in the 1940s, I think it came in kit form for self assembly which my dad put together. A good link here
