3" is over 75mm the finished slide bars are 68mm long so you have over 7mm to play with for each bar if you buy a 12" length of 1/4" sq bar you will have plenty of material to make all four slide bars.
The quantity of material on the bill of material has been calculated to allow for manufacture:- chucking/facing etc Stew
