![]() 558 forum posts 28 photos | I have a Barker lathe of 1947 vintage. Apparently in issue 2512 of ME there is something about it, an article maybe. As I can only access the MEW digital archive can anyone tell me what this content might be before I take a punt on buying a copy Thanks very much for any help John

![]() 3988 forum posts 1799 photos | Hi John, it is basic one page overview of the then new design of the 5" Barker Lathe, which apparently embodied a number of unusual and ingenious features including some of special interest to readers of ME. Regards Nick. |

![]() 6137 forum posts 893 photos | I found a postbag letter answer in issue 3560 referring to the Barker lathe if you are after old articles "This lathe was described in ME vol 101page 60 on 14 july 1949 (issue 2512) and again in rather more detail in Mechanics volume XLVII on page 320 and 321on the 17 February 1950... ...Mechanics was of course later amalgamated with Model Engineer" I'm not familiar with the post WW2 UK version of Mechanics but a well known auction site may have a copy edit This may be what you are after, but I'm not 100% sure Edited By Ady1 on 11/10/2013 10:32:53 |
