627 forum posts 72 photos | Hello all I have just fitted a cover to the Y slide of my SX3. I bought a silicone baking sheet from my local supermarket and with the use of 10 earth magnets fitted it to the cross slide and the column.I used 6 magnets for the cross slide and 4 for the column. On the column one can slide the sheet to the level of the bottom of the head if required, therefore protecting the column. It takes minutes to fit ,if you can get the magnets apart, which took me ages.A magnets on both side of the sheet holds really well and the sheet being thin folds beautifully ,It's only drawback is the swarf sticking to the magnets, but this only takes a second to remove, and I have not had to drill and tap the mill which is a plus.I hope this gives someone an easy solution to the swarf problem. Regards to all Francis |
