For the digital issue I am wondering if the very light printing on the Stepperhead drawings (p 33 & 35) is intended or some sort of artefact.While it is readable, the printing (not the dimensions) has considerably less contrast.

Unfortunately the paper version is just as bad. Original bad maybe, but at least it could have been enhanced before publication.

The originals I sent to MEW were clear and defined pdf copies of the original drawings. I even suggested posting prints of the original drawings because there was a slight loss of presentation due to pdf conversion but that was not wanted. I have no idea how the MEW drawings are so washed out.
