16 forum posts | i am about to embark on building a 5" gauge garratt. i have designed it all myself, a freelance 2 foot gauge engine, and have a few questions about a couple of design features... 1) would steel be OK for the boiler, its only about 22" long? 2) would 8 gauge steel (about 4mm) be OK for the chasis construction? 3) does it really matter if the chasis is sprung? i'm not to bothered about the ride quality as i wont be sitting on it... thanks... |
