Emco Unimat 3 - What's it worth?

2 forum posts	Hi, I've just inherited an EMCO Unimat 3 which belonged to my Father. It's been used once as far as I know. 5563 forum posts 322 photos	Or do an ebay search on Unimat and see what they are fetching - generally very prices IMHO, probably reflect how much better they are than the average Asian product at similar "new" prices today.

615 forum posts 21 photos	I bought my Unimat 3 a few years ago on ebay. It cost me £160. I needed to replace the motor, and I bought several accessories, so it might depend what it has with it. I should say maybe £200/250+ with all the tooling, or £150 for the basic lathe. I am sure that it is capable of better work than my ability allows, but it is a little small, so I am looking to obtain a bigger one. Regards Geoff

267 forum posts	I put one on ebay last year for a friend and it reached £370. There was a lot of interest, about 44 people were watching and bidding. I only included the chuck and tailstock chuck. There were some other accesories but I listed them as a seperate sale.

69 forum posts	Assuming U3 is in good unworn condition £150 seems cheap (was this with a dud motor?) £370 possibly a tad expensive. The ebay item in the previous post has an indeterminate amount of rust which may or may not be serious, it does include the mill/drill head and quite a heap of HSS tool bits but no top-slide. As with most machine tools the additional kit will in the end determine the value/cost of a package as much as the basic tool. (Note the well equipped Cowells lathe currently at £515)

2 forum posts	Wow, thanks for the replies gents, certainly food for thought. It would be nice to sell to an enthusiast who will use it rather than it spend years in my loft having spent years stored at my stents house.

829 forum posts 1 photos	One of the parameters when searching eBay is "search completed items" and the results of that search show the price at auction close and whether the item sold for that price or not. Can be useful in a case like this. (BTW, small point but .... as a courtesy to people you are requesting help from you might rotate the pictures you post or link to so that people don't have to crick their neck sideways to look at them).
