Collets for Raglan lathe

Hi
Can anybody tell me what collet system would fit on a Raglan 5 lathe. The headstock spindle is bored MT4. thanks IAN

Hi Ian

Any system for which you can get or make a 4MT adaptor is the quick answer. You can buy ready made 4MT holders for ER collets, and you can use Morse taper collets, if necessary in conjunction with adaptor sleeves. Theres a fair amount of room in 4MT so you should have a good choice even if you make your own adaptor. A number of collet systems have adaptors to fit the nose of the mandrel, rather than the bore so have a look for those as well.

Hi Ian,
The normal collets that Raglan used for their lathes used to be of the 4C type.
 
If you would like to find some suitable collets for your lathe you might try the Raglan Machine Tool web site which is http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/RaglanMachineTools
 
Quite a few of the members have additional spare and there other information for other accessories and spares both new and used.
