13 forum posts 2 photos | Could I have comments please on how anybody has gone about fitting drain cocks to the Martin Evans Boxhill cylinders. The construction articles are a bit vague on the subject. |

62 forum posts 2 photos | I'm glad someone else finds Martin Evans vague. He was far to prone to saying "in the usual way". My advice is to use your own judgement and follow what seems to be the sensible solution. If you don't want the trouble of making your own, try steam fittings.co.uk. They are anmazingly inexpensive for such fiddly bits. Mike. |

13 forum posts 2 photos | Hi Michael - I have made the decision to mount one drain cock in the rear most tapped hole in the steam valve chest. These are primarily there for setting up the timing, but should suffice as the cylinders are on a slight angle. Just need to find a good way of routing the relevant connections to the lever, as it is pretty cramped inside the frames. I have also taken into account other peoples comments on the fact that slide valves will lift a bit. Thanks for your reply. Peter. |
