399 forum posts 167 photos | Whilst reading through some articles in the from ME from 1984 (August-December) about the year going clock designed by CB Reeveby but constructed by Mr W Bolton, reference is made to a perpetual calender on the Brocot principle. CB Reeve incorporated this into his original clock and Mr Bolton comments in his article that he has made one for an 8 day longcase clock.
I have seen some outline drawings and explanations for this mechanism in various publications but never a complete dimentioned design.
Question is, has anyone seen a dimentioned design suitably sized for a longcase clock published anywhere?
Thanks Peter |

371 forum posts | I suspect you have access to both volumes of The Clockmaker, neither index contains any information that might be relevant Regrettably, Claude B. Reeve's The Musical Clock (ISBN 0 85242 423 X pub.1975) doesn't have an index but I can't recall any references in it. Could the BHI be of assistance? |

399 forum posts 167 photos | Thanks for the reply, never thought about the BHI. CB Reeve describes it in a matter of fact way in his year clock articles in ME but gives little constructional detail.
Best description I have found so far on operation is in the Britten, Watch & Clockmakers Handbook and dictionary from 1915 reprinted in the 70's. I just wondered if anyone else apart from Mr Bolton had managed to reproduce it and if any detail were available?
