My Alpine drill press was bought new twenty five years ago from Graham Engineering trading out of West Bromwich.  This company doesn't appear to be in business any longer but I suspect clones of my machine are still being sold under another badge(s).
What remedy do you have for a broken spring?  I doubt my ability to mend it so really I'm asking for a source of supply of spares.  Thank you.

Thats presumably one of those flat spiral wound jobs? I think they call them tensator springs.

Google that for a supplier. Afternote google tensator springs. Pages from the UK - several listed.

Also Ivan Law at MES will know because he used to get them for the Dore Westbury. He doesn't do the DW any more, but hes very approachable, and he will know where to get one from.

Could also try Skegness springs - google them.  Which part of the spring is broken - if it is the eye at the end, just soften the end of the spring in a flame up to red heat for a minute or so, re-form it and leave it soft if you like

Hi there, just joined this website, I saw this thread regarding Alpine drill press. I've just picked one of these up and was wondering if anyone knows where to lay my hands on a manual for it? I understand this bit of kit may have been cloned and rebranded so may be similar manuals out there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Fraser

Hi Fraser

Assuming this is a typical asian drill press I'd go to grizzly.com and look for one like it.

They have downloadable manuals with some setup tips etc
