I have a Stuart No. 501 boiler in good condition but missing its pressure gauge. My 1974 Stuart Models catalogue tells me the working pressure 60 lb but gives no indication of the gauge range or physical size. The catalogue lists 80, 100 or 150 lb gauges in ¾” or 1” diameter. I suspect it would be the 100 lb, ¾” but  I would appreciate if anyone can tell me the original spec.

Hi the 501 that I owned had a 3/4" 80 psi gauge I'm sure that it was the original gauge hope that helps.

In the 1981 Stuart Catalogue the 501 boiler used a Syphon  No 113/2 which was screwed 3/16" for a 3/4" dia face dial, the 3/4" and 1" dia gauges use the same spec syphon. As the boiler is rated at 60 lbs a 80lbs gauge would do, I think the 3/4" dia gauge would look OK on that boiler. By the way a 3/4" dia gauge is listed with the No 1035 Marine Boiler.

Gordon and Stick.

Thanks very much for the information. It looks like the 3/4" size wins!
Fortunately the boiler still has its syphon tube, just need to sort out the feed check valve and it'll be ready for testing.

Will
