Strip down
Speedy Builder5 | 06/11/2022 11:04:06 |
2878 forum posts 248 photos | I need to extend the cross slide screw of my Boxford AUD. I removed the screw but need to remove the handle. I have undone all the grub screws , but there seems to be a flat head screw on the end of the lead screw holding the handle on which resists removal. The screwdriver slots are very shallow and "bruised" as if someone has had a go in the past. Is it a screw and if so LH or RH threaded. Bob |

1486 forum posts 105 photos | Sorry it's an ordinary RH thread I don't know why I put LH. I've edited the post above to avoid confusion. |

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | The handle isn't threaded itself so once the grubscrew is removed only the burr is stopping it rotating. So you might be able to rotate it at the same time as the 'nut'. If you are going to make the whole new item rather than just graft on a new threaded part you can redesign this end. |
