Pultra crosslide

df6dabf7-9710-43aa-b038-f3a294be5d84.jpegbac26de9-07a0-46f6-bc73-3121eca862b1.jpeg65552020-abb4-4b64-a7b3-eaea5dc2f38f.jpeg3e33e941-f060-42c3-b091-5c8cb4cf5f4b.jpeg12086813-1526-4d97-9b43-49580dd7ef78.jpeg407b2f98-1fa5-4b73-b300-cec34045dd95.jpeg8a48f18a-7385-4864-9822-90ef4b4e775a.jpegA friend sent me a metric crosslide for my Pultra 17/70 because I have trouble with my hands and the handles are bigger than my current crosslide , although I do most of my turning with a graver it's always useful to have a crosslide, and as I do most of my measurements in metric it's a pain for an old man to keep converting back and forth,( well for this old man anyway) , it had some surface rust but not to bad, I totally stripped it down degreased it, removed old paint ( wrong colour) and soaked it in Evaporust for a few hours, there was a few butchered jib adjusting grub screws so as I had to make four anyway I thought I may as well change all of them because trying to hold the grub screw still with a very small screwdriver while tightening the locknut was a pain so I purchased 10 alen socket 1/8"X 1/2" BSW grub screws and turned the end down to match the originals, I also had to repair the end of one of the leadscrews.
I went this morning to where I used to work to paint the parts that needed painting and while I was there I welded the damaged leadscrew, when I got home I turned the welded end down and drilled the hole to hold the handle on.
Although it's all adjusted and Multifix fitted I haven’t tried it yet
