21 forum posts | Hi I need some advice from a builder of the Bobcat I am at the stage of mounting the cams, on the drawing there is a note stating that the cam shaft leads the outer pair of exhaust cams anti clockwise. On this engine there is an idler gear in the gear chain so the cam shaft runs clockwise as the crank shaft. I have fitted the cams as per the drawing but it does not seem right? Am I missing something ? Some help please Donald |

Crank goes anti clockwise from flywheel/prop end, idler goes clockwise, therefore cam goes anti clockwise. Looking from flywheel/prop end of cam shaft the first exhaust cam is at about 1 o'clock position and leads the inlet by 102.5deg. View the far end of the isometric drawing not the gear end that is nearest the viewer Mine being an opposed twin was a bit different
