How to draw a set of holes on a PCD using Autocad 2000

Hi - I am having problems in drawing up a set of holes on a PCD using Autocad 2000. Having successfully DIVided the circle into the required number of divisions I was expecting to be able to ‘snap’ onto the division points to draw the required circle of holes but have discovered that OSNAP settings options does not seem to recognise the DDPTYPE markers inserted using the DIV command. Can someone please explain where I might be going wrong.

Does Autocad have a radial pattern tool? That allows you to pattern a feature as many times as you need around a fixed point or axis?

You should use polar array. Draw one circle on the PCD circle. Select it then go to array. Chose polar array, choose the centre of the PCD as the centre of the array, choose how many circles are required and the angle to fill (usually 360° ) and that should do what you want.

I think arrays are in the modification menu.

Which OSNAP are you using? To snap to a point, you need NODE.

Another way to do it is to use the polygon command. Choose the number of vertices as the number of holes. Choose INSCRIBED as the method for drawing, with the dia. of the inscribed circle the PCD required. Draw a circle at each vertex.

Polar array as suggested above is quite powerful as you can choose any combination of number of items and angle to fill (so you could put 9 things around a 17 degree arc if you wanted).

Martin - Problem now resolved using the polar array command.
