I recently purchased an old ml7 which came with a large amount of tools and random pieces, including this piece, it's around 100mm high 65mm wide and 115mm between mounting holes.. any help would be great. Thanks

Not a recognisable Myford accessory or even general lathe accessory to me. Could possibly be some kind of worm and wheel reduction gearbox?

A peek inside one or two of those inspection covers might help.

If you spin that disc coupling with the two pins sticking out of it, does the other shaft sticking out the side turn a tiny amount?

If it's a worm and wheel reduction box, could be someone was thinking of making a dividing head etc out of it.

Demagnetiser?

What is inside that little inspection/adjustment cover?

Is that a special electrical connector at bottom right on the first pic?

I think there could be some better description, than just pics and dims.

You don’t know what it is, nor do I but I would have removed the thumbscrew and seen what’s behind the cover.

img20220703102436.jpgOk, I've added a couple more photos to the album, it's definitely a reduction box, if you spin the side cam the one underneath spins much slower it's very hard to get a decent pic inside, but there's lots of gears and screw drives. Thanks for the replies

Hello Chris,

Aircraft War surplus slow motion drive and I think with various speed ratios at the shafts with pegged flanges

Thanks a lot for the identification Brian, it really has me scratching my head trying to figure out it's relationship to the lathe.. 😆
