I must be 100% honest, I am not here because I am a model engineer. I am amazed at some of the models that I used to see at the Model Engineer exhibition with my now late father. Subsequently, I am now the owner of all of the machinary, Myford ML super7 lathe, milling machine, pillar drill, fly press and all of the associated tools.

I will never use them so I have come here for advice and to hopefully find a new home for it all. It is essentially a whole set up and, knowing my father as I did, the tools are decent. The important thing to me, is that it goes somewhere where it will be used.

It is in Gosport, Hampshire and I will welcome any constructive ideas. I intend to sell but not as a waste, Id like a caring home that respects it. Sorry, still quite raw, but Dad would not want it to waste

Sadly an all to common situation now a days. I recently bought and transported a complete workshop to help set up the 18 year son of a friend with a lot of what he needs to enter the world of engineering. What sort of mill do you have ? Noel.

Hello both and thanks for the tips; I will work out what is what and try to list. I know dad was building a loco. He had a lot built, the boiler etc. We lost mum to Parkinsons and Dad only dabbled after that. He was a Naval Architect from Portsmouth Dockyard and knew his stuff. I think just the iron mongery alone would save someone a fortune, but I will find out this week.

Welcome and sorry to hear about your situation - for what it's worth I think you're quite right to want to move it on, I suspect a lot of workshops go dark and the machinery sits and rusts until it is worthless because someone can't face moving it on, probably the last thing the original owner would have wanted.

Some model engineering clubs will offer help, usually in exchange for a cut - they may organise sales or just send someone round to offer advice, which can be well worth it for a well equipped outfit.

There are a number of dealers who will take the lot off your hands at a very unsatisfying price - this is the best route if you just want everything gone and/or the clock is ticking.

You'll get the most bang for your buck by taking the time to catalogue everything, photograph it, and sell it all individually online - but it's a painful process!

Hello all, once again thank you for the replies, unfortunately life has been in the way somewhat and I have been remiss in addressing this.

The lathe is a Myford, the Mill is an Elliott Mini Mill, the drills are Corona and a Kerry. I have sent some pictures to a clearance company; not the route I necessarily wanted but even going through the local District Engineering Society there were no contacts and there was one from a classified here, but I had no way to contact them back.

Rather disappointing; I am not looking for silly money, more a good home that will actually cherish them. Yes, they need a clean-up but to be forthright about it, I do not have clue as to what half the stuff is, it is decades since I was in front of a lathe or Milling Machine, I stick to my carpentry! Someone could probably get an absolute bargain.

You can post them in the classified ads on this website (lower right of screen) and they will find a good home among model engineers.

Also if you post in a new thread with a heading such as "Selling Dad's Workshop Gear" and post pictures of what you have got and ask members what sort of prices you should ask for what gear, you will get a wider response than a "Hello" thread. There is usually a lot of interest on here in such things.

Thank you. I shall do that now, I have put stuff in the classifieds to no avail, however I have now uploaded some of the photos. I will go back down south for more and try to show everything I can,
