1050 forum posts 56 photos | Interesting proposition. For gas firing, a boiler requires more heat transfer surface area than for coal equivalent as the radiant energy of a gas flame is lower. If you've built to the Hughes' boiler design, you might find that the steaming of the boiler is below par. I wonder if filling the firebox with ceramic "coal" might help. Just a thought, I've no experience of that. |
