Hi all, I make snooker cues, and have purchased an 8x16 mini metal lathe to fit the brass joint to cues, my question is which cutters would I need to face off 30mm round hardwood(ebony) and drill 12mm holes into end grain. tia Bill.

Sharp HSS will do but I tend to use carbide inserts intended for aluminium which don't tear and wear better than HSS

As for the hole, something like a 10mm lip & spur bit to remove most of the waste and then finish off with a 12mm TCT router bit
