4 forum posts | Afternoon all! I am planning to give Invertek a call on Monday, but was wondering whether anyone else has had a similar issue and a solution! I've just fitted an Invertek Optidrive E3 inverter (ODE-3-120070-1F12), everything seems to be working fine except for the configuration of the remote controls. I have DI1 & DI2 wired to the original Start (N/O) and Stop (N/C) momentary pushbuttons of my machine to diagram 5 in the manual (section 7.2). I've accordingly set parameter P-15 to 10 (section 7.4). For some reason, the start pushbutton has to be held to get the machine to run and stops when it's released, suggesting it's looking for a latched 'Run' command rather than a momentary 'Start' as advertised. If I hold the stop button and press start the machine will not start, which rules out some of the other configurations. I've tried disconnecting the push buttons and used direct wire links to rule out wiring issues, but that returned the same result. I've also tried a reset and re-entered the parameters but I'm at a bit of a loss! Obviously I could fit a relay and wire in a latching circuit, but I don't have one to hand and that's a bit of a faff when the manual suggests that the extra gubbins isn't needed. Am I missing something silly? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance |

369 forum posts 41 photos | Looking at the manual, the quick start on page six indicates that you need a latching switch: ”Quick Start – IP20 This seems a bit unusual to me, but I have never used this particular drive. |

4 forum posts | Cheers Steve, that figure appears (to me anyway) to be showing the bare minimum needed to make a motor spin and is consistent with the default macro function (0) on page 29 and diagram 1 on page 27. I believe with my pushbuttons configured in the way they are, if I were inadvertently using this function then my stop button would cause the motor to change direction, so fairly convinced that this isn't my smoking gun. I may give it a spin in this mode just to see if it reveals anything strange. |

![]() 1174 forum posts 303 photos | Tibbsey look at page 27 and use the wiring as diagram 5 ,6,8,9,10,12,13 they all use momentary switches. then use the macro function to suit so if you use diagram 5 use macro 10 |

4 forum posts | Thanks Ian, got it sussed now, diagram 5 and macro 10 was the one I was aiming at. Reverting back to function 0 just to try it did reveal that one of the last things I did before giving up earlier and then later deciding to do a full reset was swap DI1 and 2 over, correcting those two and then changing back to function 10 has put it all exactly right. I think the reset did it, but I'll accept that to everyone else it looks very much like my cockup! May the milling commence! As an Electrical Engineer I'll hand in my credentials at the door... 369 forum posts 41 photos | Yes, Ian’s right, there are multiple ways to connect and configure. This is the first time I’ve heard of an inverter that can use anything other than momentary switches! If you follow Ian’s example of diagram 5 and macro 10 it might be worth adding that the start button is wired NO and the stop is wired NC |

Just wondered if you wired in an emergency stop and how you did it? Invertek offer an IP66 drive which makes it quite convenient and also has built in EMC. The manual is written well too so I like this option but haven't work out how to install an E-stop. Regards Dan |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | I wired up two latching emergency stop buttons in series with the remote control standard stop button. The advantage is that being latching, they have to be reset manually after use. Until then the start button will not work. The readout on the vfd reads "nst" until both emergency stop buttons are reset and "rdy" when the normal start button is usable. |
